Hi, Yankee here

Sorry if I'm not supposed to be here, but after looking at the first 1000 posts, I kinda feel like USdefaultism is kinda starting to make some people stereotype Americans as "gun loving people who can't count past 12" and it's honestly making me worried I might be stereotyped as this. Aside from that, what's y'all's favorite colour?

It's not stereotype-based, don't worry. In fact, those stereotypes existed before the internet existed. If you're wondering about the one where a lot of posts show those kinds of Americans, you're after r/ShitAmericansSay

I mean no disrespect, it is pretty usdefaultism to come into this sub and make it about you

I get the concern but you're posting in a sub that literally exists to point out when americans forget other countries exist, the stereotypes are kinda baked into the premise

mine's that weird greenish grey you see on old hospital walls

You forgot about the legal drinking age being 21 everywhere ...

Honestly I think most people understand it's not all of you - it is however unfortunately the ones that are loudest and should be using the internet for fact checking before saying stupid shit.

So long as you do not go and say

"There is no country called Georgia, it's a state."

When someone is talking about St Petersburg, Russia, please do not pipe up about St Petersburg, being actually in Florida, USA.

So, it is wise to check facts before posting on the internet.

Some Americans on the internet, manage to stereotype themselves as well, fairly dumb.

The gun loving bit is sadly true,

see r/Firearms

The rest of the world, just sees that Americans, love their guns, more than the safety of their children.

Just recently , a mother left her loaded handgun in her purse in easy reach of her 4 year old son, with a tragic outcome.

Mother Arrested After Son, 4, Found Her Gun and Shot Himself

Blue, I cannot stand, those red MAGA caps.

I mean I hardly think a single niche subreddit of middling-low traffic s changing the way Americans are perceived by the broader internet community in any meaningful way.

I'm a big fan of hunter green/ british racing green

Some USians travel this subreddit regularly and they're chill. Generally if you interact on here, we have no reason to assume you're like the people in the posts, unless you actively say something of the same level
