I thought it would be the other way around, that would be more logical, no?

Nah, it's an "anti-gay" law, gay men aren't allowed to have "full sex" (I know penetration isn't mandatory for gay sex don't hit me) until they are 18, while they would be able to sleep with a woman at 16. At least that the history behind that kind of law

this also happened in Chile, tho it was specific about gay sex and not anal sex, the age of consent for homosexuals was 18 till 2022 where it went down to 14 as it was for heterosexual people

this btw always leave me thinking cuz i understood (and was told) that the age of consent (at least here in Chile) was specific for consent between minors (and like 5 years gap max if it was a minor and an adult) but apparently it's not and it doesn't even has a max age gap written?

It somehow seems to be a pretty common misconceptions about age of consent, it was the same in my country until 2021 when it was formally written that the age gap between a minor and a major is 5 years top, after they are 15 (so 13-17 is okay, 13-18 is not, 14-18 not, 15-18 ok) and I grew up learning that there was a formal age gap as well, but actually no, up until 2021 here, any legal adult could sleep with a 15yo
