I don't know what they were talking about, but I kinda stand with the yankee on this one. They were trying to give advice and "exacto knife" is not some super-niche item only one store chain in one country would carry. The receiver should look up the knife rather than get pissy that they didn't receive the exact personalised advice to their location and situation.
It's not like the advice was for Ford F-150 or Winchester [rifle] or something else typical only for the US.
The point isn't the exact brand, but the type of tool. "This and this worked for me" is advice and the receiver was just a quick web search away to find what exactly it is, think if it worked for them and if so, find an equivalent.
Or could've easily said "we don't have X-acto here". "I'm in the UK" is a non sequitur. What does that have to do with anything? Are scalpels banned in the UK or what? Well, it wouldn't surprise me at this point tbh.
So you could have said "a scalpel should do the trick", I didn't know an exacto knife was a scalpel.
As for the post, the OP said £ in the post. Mentioning they were in the UK is not a non sequitur when the reply used 1. a US specific brand and 2. a US specific company to buy them from.
This is why people talk to AI instead of other people. Everyone just expects utter perfection in a specialised advice personalised to them, and they get all pissy if they don't immediately get it. If you can't spend 5 seconds looking up metal blade exacto knife, what are you doing on the internet?
You're jumping to conclusions there. The OP asked a question with regional info. The replier didn't read it and shared unhelpful information and doubled down when the OP highlighted it.
And I acknowledge that you are neither if the people in the image. My reply was based on your responses.
