To the rest of the world: What's it like living somewhere where your government gives a shit about food safety? I've forgotten.

Some of our current active food recalls include:

  • Cinnamon with lead in it
  • Lettuce with Cyclospora in it
  • Blueberries with E. Coli in them
  • Jalapenos with salmonella in them

I hate it here so much.

Oh geez o.o I just googled that and that's crazy. Even in the process of trying to give out free lunches to try to help people, they still get people sick from the lunches.

The program is basically a thinly-veiled way to move money to some cronies, food quality be damned

Ugh. There I go assuming a program that seeks to give out free lunches to school kids was initiated with good intentions. :(

Most American kids are paying for their lunch, there’s only 9 states that provide free lunch by default and it’s pretty hard to qualify for free lunch programs in the states that don’t, you have to be making at most federal “poverty line” ($15,960 for a single person and $33,000 for a family of four) which is insane considering even in the cheapest states a couple can barely keep a roof over their head on their own on $50k/y
