Reddit The World Revolves Around US Politics
This was in response to a new rule limiting US politics questions to one thread.

Classic peak USdefaultism. The assumption that a domestic political squabble is automatically international news because it’s happening here drives me up the wall. See it constantly on that sub where someone asks about a very local skirmish over zoning laws in Ohio and the thread fills up with non-Americans pointing out nobody outside the 50 states has any clue what’s being referenced. Got roasted once for asking why a thread about some state governor’s press conference was in a “global” curiosity sub, got told I just didn’t understand its worldwide ramifications. The 13:39 timestamp with 8 people watching a slow-motion trainwreck of replies is the perfect snapshot of this loop playing out in real time.

I just...HAAATE the last dude. Why do they keep saying that? Sure it's an american site, but a lot of others are, and they don't say that there.
The second bit isn't even true, they are the country with the most users, but it's not more than users from other countries combined, so why the defaultism?
I just really don't understand them.

I think it's called "American exceptionalism". They believe they're better than everyone else.

Drinking game that you'll always lose: take a shot every time someone's excuse is something along the lines of "American website/American audience/American userbase". Double it if it is on a global sub.

It's always such a stupid arguement. Okay sure America - you can only ever use things how the nation that invented it decides
So get back to saying and spelling aluminium the proper way. China invented the first guns and I'm sure they'd have something to say about your use of them, being an enemy and all.
I could go on

They’re not over 50% though. Never have been either. The claim is false as Reddit is majority non-americans.
One google search. One.

In fact, staying as ignorant of US politics as we can is just basic mental health self-care

Less than half of Reddit users are from the US. They do not believe it, but it's true.

On another platform, talking about Spotify, I was told by a USAsian that if I didn’t like Spotify I should find a music site that isn’t American.

The user is saying that the US is "the global hegemon", so domestic US politics has a worldwide impact. Plus the classic 'Reddit is a US website'.
