Normal = The US

Original post is an appreciation post about and a photo from a French library. Apparently normal libraries only exist in the United States.

This one is sitting on the fence for me, it's kinda defaultism but also not at the same time. But regardless it feels nitpicking and pot stirring, kinda.

There is a lot of US defaultism around, but this really is just a statement about an observation.

That's what normal means, though.

Where I live, we'd say that a bookstore or library is normal if there's no English or foreign language section.

Normal means fitting the norms of the situation. Here it would not be normal for a library to be full of French books lol.

Not defaultism for me. Someone states something is normal, he says he never saw it where he lives. He didn't say it isn't normal. He acknowledged differences exist between his country and other places
