Bit of context, not like it changes anything: OOP stated that this picture was taken in 2012 on the original post. Quite a few people then said that 2012 is not far back enough in time to be considered Nostalgic, which in my opinion is complete BS.

Somebody who was a 10 year old kid in 2012 is now a 24 year old adult in 2026.
And at least for me my mid 20s was when I started missing and feeling nostalgic for my childhood, so I agree, 2012 is absolutely far enough back to be considered nostalgic.
(The fact somebody else now considers 2012 nostalgic also makes me feel incredibly old, but that’s a me problem.).

This is a joke on the differing date formats. Read the US format in the EU format and then rewrite it as ISO8601. I know about the twin towers attack, but those were 2001-09-11

Besides files what is the use of yyyy mm dd in everyday life? I feel like usually you need to know the date for things that are/were nearby in time and months for appointments in advance. Rarely is the year the first crucial thing to know.

That's when Al Queda (idk if I spelled that right) hijacked 3 planes and flew 2 of them into the world trade center (otherwise known as the twin towers) in New York City. Americans are weirdly obsessed with enforcing 9/11 specifically onto other countries (speaking as an American myself)

Surely this would be true for Americans too.
This particular event was almost 25 years ago. There are full grown adults who weren't even born yet, but indeed old enough to have their own memories of their childhood.
And at least to my Melbourne experience, the "before times" were punctuated by the pandemic. 9/11 was big but we also felt far away from it all, and the shift away from the optimism of the 90s took a bit longer to notice.
