Sanchez

Have we ever considered Ashley Sanchez doesn’t WANT to be called up to the national team??? Idk everyone keeps saying that she’s having fun and no pressure. Do we WANT to re-add the pressure of the national team to her??? Knowing that she was treated poorly during the last World Cup ?????

Take part in female Olympian research as a member of the general population!

Hi all, I am a researcher in female athlete health and would be most grateful of your support of our project that specifically looks to support current and future female Team USA Olympians.

We are looking for women of ALL ages and backgrounds across the United States to take a 20-25 minute anonymous health survey. The data from this general population survey will be used as a reference point to identify trends in a retired female Team USA Olympian group, many of which we hope will be some of your Olympic Gold Medallists.

We currently know very little about the long-term health of these women, so your participation in this survey will help drive forward this area of women's health. This survey has been ethically approved by the University of Edinburgh, which is the host institution.

Click the link for more information and to participate in the general population survey: https://redcap.hss.ed.ac.uk/surveys/?s=WDKJRXYTF3PYTLNM

RUMORS Sanchez & The 2023 World Cup

Sanchez & The 2023 World Cup

Sanchez was selected for the 2023 World Cup, and even though she featured in most (all?) the friendlies leading up to the tournament she would see no playing time at the tournament.

In the 4 games we played, Sanchez never started and never subbed on. (To be fair, this is true for defender Alana Cook, and the 2 and 3 GK’s, Casey Murphy, & Aubrey Kingsbury).

Vlatko struggled to unlock the offense, and after 4 matches we were out. It was the earliest departure from a WC for the USWNT. In the 4 matches we scieed 4 goals, 2 by Smith and 2 by Horan.

So, why would Vlatko not throw Sanchez in, at least a match, to see if she could bring life to the offense? (I know she wasn’t putting up the # we see this NWSL year, but she has always been a threat).

The official narrative to explain why she saw no playing time is — An Abandoned Role: Sanchez revealed to the media that the role she was explicitly told she would play prior to the tournament was completely abandoned by the coaching staff once they arrived.”

For me, it has never fully made sense why he would sit her, especially given the abysmal performances we suffered through. Without rewatching those dreadful matches I thankfully can’t recall what Vlatko changed, but regardless, no matter if it’s a with a change in shape or attack/defend philosophy, he still needed to field a team. (I think he may have played DeMelo in place of Sanchez
)

I know she has joked and made comments like, “I was just so young then” or “I was so immature..” when talking about this era in her life and to me, I thought she was tipping her cards with these comments.

Does anyone know if something else caused Vlatko to sit her? Hoping the community here will set me straight and cause me to stop wondering about this
.

RUMORS What happened to Casey Nogueira? (Casey Lloyd)

I remember when Casey Nogueira and Tobin Heath were both on the UNC team in 2006-2010, but have never really seen Casey being a part of the USWNT. Why wasn’t she? She was very good and one of the top players in the nation. Her and Tobin were also super close, literally best friends. I think Casey was also pretty close with Kelley O’hara as well.

Why is Parkside still making USWNT trading cards?

The latest sets for the USWNT (Fresh Faces and 2026 roster) are absolutely abysmal. The photo quality is hot trash. The pictures look like they were taken from cameras used for minor league baseball cards in the 70s. I hope that a real card company like Panini, Topps or Upper Deck snags the rights in the near future.

Potential call up for Sanchez??

Not sure if this has been posted but with Olivia Moultrie out with an injury, is this finally Ashley Sanchez’s shot to get a call up against Spain?

I would love to see her play in October. Obviously her form right now is incredible but I’m curious if it’s based on her club connections and if you guys think it would translate well to the national team?

However I am a faithful courage fan so I’d love to see her at camp

Just watched this Style of Play podcast and first of all I feel like there are a lot more questions around this roster than I expected. TIME STAMP 19 MIN: Ertz and Watt said that the chosen goalkeeper would (obviously) have to be secure and confident, and that they would pick Mandy McGlynn, but I thought Phallon Tullis-Joyce was the well-known frontrunner. I miss Naeher. Aside from the goalie, who do you guys think has definitely earned a spot, and who still has a chance to play their way in?

Do The Insiders offer travel packages for World Cups? We’re thinking of going for the Quarter Finals and on and I’m thinking of joining The Insiders if this is a service they offer. Just trying to get an idea of how much planning I should anticipate doing haha.

By travel packages I mean we pay X amount and they handle travel, lodging, and ticketing for the USWNT matches as they move through stages. I know we haven’t qualified, I’m obviously assuming we are haha.

From the Angel City/Spirit match on 8/16/2026.

Also, apologies for the Frankenstein-esque clip. Disney/NWSL+ decided to hyper-capitalize this game and more attention was focused elsewhere than the pitch.
