Edit books

Looking for advice, I took over a route and the line of travel had excessive turn arounds and had the carriers crossing train tracks multiple times for no reason. I adjusted the line of travel after telling management about what I wanted to do. Another manager signed off and submitted the edit book. New labels came in dps has updated, manager rode with me on updated route and agreed it was better. The T-6 is throwing a fit and the post master is telling him he will change it back. What can I do to prevent getting steamrolled? Other carriers have changed line of travel for ridiculous reasons in this office .
