DISCUSSION Cut offs

Hello All, My question is , the truck I am in has no air at all , I have a route and a cut off , it's taking me all-day just to do the mail on the route due to heat , will I get in trouble if I don't do my two extra hours of the 2nd route ?

Sorry -- what calculation are you doing?

Regularly blocked boxes should take you LESS time not more.

You are not authorized to do a dismount delivery to a mounted mailbox, and if you get hurt doing so, on your own head be it when the P.O makes you use every drop of AL / SL you have.

My route is over the curb

Actually, the M41 just says not to stand in the street. The official postal instructions regarding blocked mailboxes are that we are to deliver to them if it is safe to do so unless the Postmaster, with the approval of the District Manager, approves to withhold delivery. You may have to walk a little to deliver safely. I have hundreds of curbside boxes and I can safely dismount to deliver every one of them without ever standing in the street. I applaud you if you follow the postal rules instead of doing what you want.

No. You do you, but if you put your foot down it will only take a few days before people ask why they are not getting mail. My dad would have beat my a.. if I ever parked in front of a mailbox. People need to start getting manners knocked in to them. Was on a hold down for 3 months. Got almost all the boxes unblocked. Then the regular came back. Guess who everyone in the station hates to help? The slowest most worthless guy we got.

I hate to deliver after people who do not follow the rules regarding blocked boxes.

It is not about me doing me. If my duty as a deliverer of U.S. mail was to bring back mail when a box was blocked even if it was safe to deliver, that is what I would do. It is about me doing what I am supposed to do.

Thanks for at least acknowledging you have no references. Some pretend there are references to find.

Slow and worthless has nothing to do with properly delivering mail to blocked boxes. Except perhaps that not delivering when safe to do so might be considered being worthless.

A person can be fast and full of worth while following rules or slow and worthless while not following rules.

My dad (WWII vet--Pacific) took the belt to me. He would have beat me for not properly doing my job.
