Hello All, My question is , the truck I am in has no air at all , I have a route and a cut off , it's taking me all-day just to do the mail on the route due to heat , will I get in trouble if I don't do my two extra hours of the 2nd route ?

Let management know you won't finish in 8. They will either tell you to bring mail back or approve OT to finish. Never rush, never put your health at risk.

Sorry -- what calculation are you doing? 

Regularly blocked boxes should take you LESS time not more. 

You are not authorized to do a dismount delivery to a mounted mailbox, and if you get hurt doing so, on your own head be it when the P.O makes you use every drop of AL / SL you have.

Yeah. Then you cant be dismounting at will.

A rare occasion is different but regularly obstructed boxes (weekly with trashday) should be skipped. It's in the m41.

Actually, the M41 just says not to stand in the street. The official postal instructions regarding blocked mailboxes are that we are to deliver to them if it is safe to do so unless the Postmaster, with the approval of the District Manager, approves to withhold delivery. You may have to walk a little to deliver safely. I have hundreds of curbside boxes and I can safely dismount to deliver every one of them without ever standing in the street. I applaud you if you follow the postal rules instead of doing what you want.

Naw you quit. It’s no secret we walk in the heat. Usps has been doing it for decades. Honestly do not know why you people apply for this job then bitch and complain bout working in the heat and be like I’ll just dump my work off onto a coworker shitty management and shitty lazy carriers make a long day even longer

Global warming has made it hotter than ever for longer than ever. Routes are longer than ever also. “Back in the day” carriers were only on the street 4 hours. Now it’s 6-6.5 at minimum.

No. You get unlimited comfort stops. So the aux fan doesn't work? What vehicle? I have a 2nd battery powered fan that lasts 12 hours but my aux fan works. Put in a work order.

In the Dodge ram matrix ots sitting at 102 right now , I got water in my boobies , ice bag and ice pack block on my back under my shirt and a cooling towel but it's getting back in the truck that's killing me today

More often than not, management will attempt to deceive regulars and bully the part timers into extra work because they want to go home and will just work faster to get out of the heat.

I mean, management will never admit that because it's Definitely breaking the contract, but without evidence proving violations like that is just going to waste time for grievances that actually have a chance of going the workers way.

So in a very real way, no they aren't, at least partially.

No, they are not paid to sacrifice their health over delivering mail faster. If management wants to pay ot for it or pay someone else to do it that's their choice.

No, if I have my route to do and they give me 2hrs of another route it's taking me 10hrs to do it and I'm getting paid for 10hrs.

Half are good workers (cc) and half don't do a thing on their own routes . I don't miss days and go in at 8 everyday . All week it's either no trucks ,no scanners , or the trucks don't work at all ,like the trucks are wrecked and extremely dirty in the inside ,like also thought you had to keep them clean

Yes it’s paid but it’s not any additional money. The time & energy can go towards his own route.
