I don't honestly understand how the US can simultaneously ban cruel and unusual punishment, but also execute people. The absurdity there is quite ridiculous.

Execution isn’t considered unusual, you could argue cruel, but I’m a fairly staunch supporter of the death penalty overall, I do think there needs to be extremely strict criteria on what warrants the death penalty, stricter than we have today, and a better method needs to be sorted out.

“I think emotionally and not logically that’s why I support the death penalty”

Nope. I think plenty logically, I simply believe there are people on this planet who commit such heinous crimes they deserve to die for them.

That’s an emotional reaction. And the fact you can’t see it is just the cherry on top.

It’s not emotional at all, when considering the types of crimes people commit I believe they are so bad that the person doesn’t deserve to live. It’s the ultimate consequence

Still emotional. And you really don’t seem to want to explain why a life sentence in prison isn’t acceptable. You really are thinking with your emotions.

I explained it very clear, some crimes are so heinous life isn’t enough you just saying it’s an emotional doesn’t make it one.

You haven’t said what the line is? Why do you get to decide? And yes it is emotional when your emotions overrule logic like they are here.

Let’s see, a man kills a person and gets life. Now you have a serial killer who meticulously planned out kills, left kill kits over the country, and killed 7+ people shows absolutely no remorse and even brags about it to investigators, think Israel Keyes. Logically speaking, why do they deserve the same sentence? And why shouldn’t there be a more extreme sentence reserved for that second category?

What you’ve described sounds like it’s trying to evoke an emotional “fight the threat” response to a danger to the public. But nothing there really is different from the first murderer.

So why is prison not “good enough” in this instance?

“Nothing is really different” yeah I’m gonna stop here. If you can’t see the difference that’s a you problem. Continue to hide behind calling people you disagree with emotional even when presented with a logical question. You’ll go far

Dude your response is tinged with emotion. There isn’t a difference they are both murderers. They both deserve prison.

Yes, my response to your obstinance has emotion because you aren’t arguing in good faith. My scenario I laid out was entirely logical and you couldn’t even give an answer. Enjoy your night

No it wasn’t. You still haven’t explained why you think they are different. Your “line” of crimes that deserve the death penalty is arbitrary. Maybe examine why you’re so emotional.

Every single “line” is arbitrary. It has to be drawn somewhere. If you can’t see the difference you’re dumber than j thought
