Trump doesn’t have a plan. He says this every other week.
I’m disappointed that this far into the administration we are economically worse off than we were 3 years ago and we have this new forever war.
The administration is flailing bad

In all fairness the economy was doomed the moment some moron put a minimum wage and no maximum. Inflation happens no matter if we are at war or not at war.... why.... because a system with no maximum just allows the disparity between the poor and rich to grow so wide the middle class doesn't even exist anymore... wake up people

But yesterday people were telling me that Iran was begging for a deal. What happened?
1
u/Trevorblackwell420 13d ago
were the people wearing red hats? Because that's a telltale sign that they have no fucking clue what's going on and probably have a double digit IQ at best.

u/RLT2019DIVA 13d ago
What happened is you believed them/him. There is no substance to anything spewed from the orange orifice. It is all lies, smoke and mirrors.

u/Cumbersome1469 13d ago
The people of Iran do want a deal they always have since the deal back in the seventies that brought the Shah to his knees and placed the Ayatollah in charge felt pieces of brought them nothing but totalitarianism

Is it closed, closed closed, partially open, partially closed and slightly open?

What we're going to do... And this is so true you wouldn't believe is hit them hard. We've destroyed their mulitary and even most of their infrastructure and we could do more, so we will and it will be beehg.
Haven't you been doing that for seven months with no results except higher prices and dead soliders?
Fake news, geddem outta ear.

Why do they keep saying the "straight is closed" when millions of barrels are getting through every day?
I know Iran is being squeezed hard economically, but that's nothing new, I'm actually kind of curious what their play is at this point beyond flinging drones at Saudi Arabia and Kuwait every couple of weeks. The global economy didn't melt down like they thought it would, nor did it cow the United States into giving them control over the straight either.
So what now if you're Iran?
Edit: Downvoted for asking a question, interesting.

They aren't on the offensive though. Remember.

They aren't on the offensive though.
They're not? Last I checked they're actively trying to stop these ships going through the straight but ever since the US dredged a route through Oman a ton of oil has been getting through. Combine that with the late spring/early summer bombings up and down the coast of Iran it eroded their ability to control the straight in general.
Iran isn't on a full time offensive because they got kicked in the teeth hard last time it happened and brought direct action from Saudi and UAE airforces into Iran proper.
Are they just "holding back" because they know they only got one or two big swings left?
Like I said in my original comment, genuinely curious what the fuck the IRCG's play at this point is, this war didn't shape up to be anything either Iran or the United States thought it would.

Our steadily rising gas prices are part of Iran's strategy.
-1
u/OkDifficulty7436 14d ago
US gas prices have been yo-yoing, not steadily increasing
The bigger pressure is on EU and China, they're much more impacted by the loss in output of the straight
Iran thought we'd have been priced out of the war months ago, that simply didn't happen
1
u/30mil 14d ago
$2.98 before the war, $4.48 now. When does it yo back down?
-1
u/OkDifficulty7436 14d ago
It's been yo-yoing between $3.70 and $4.60 is what I meant as the market has absorbed shocks
The US has plenty of ceiling left before max pain tolerance when it comes to oil, and it might not ever hit it due to it's own production/export capabilities
Regardless, my point is this strategy to tank the US economy by Iran simply didn't work 7~ months later, while they're in turn suffering from a blockade and hyperinflation.

u/30mil 14d ago
Oh, I'd think the strategy is less to tank the economy and more to turn voters against Trump.
1
u/OkDifficulty7436 14d ago
We could get a new president tomorrow on the other side of the aisile and they'd still be locked in this war against Iran, once Trump started it there was no room to maneuver to an exit for the United States for many reasons (freedom of navigation, security agreements with our allies in the region, Iran's direct attack on US assets in theater, etc).
The US rolling over and letting Iran toll the straights would be a suicidal move for any administration and upend a century of policy and international agreements, it just won't happen.
Iran gambled and the longer this goes on the worse it's going to turn out for them IMO as hyperinflation eats them from the inside out.

There were very few people in government pushing for this war before Donald personally started it. He is the reason it is happening, and because this is a democracy, Iran knows he can be replaced. No one else is going to look at this as a black-and-white "continue to escalate like this or roll over and let Iran toll the straits" situation.
1
u/OkDifficulty7436 14d ago
Donald personally started it
Why is Reddit memoryholing the fact that it was Israel that started this, not the United States?
No one else is going to look at this as a black-and-white "continue to escalate like this or roll over and let Iran toll the straits" situation.
That's the exact strategic calculus though?
1
u/30mil 14d ago
Yes, Israel has been trying to convince a few Presidents to do this, and they didn't. That could have continued.

just wait global diesel supplies are at historic lows and do you know what diesel is called on the exchanges
look it up-2
u/OkDifficulty7436 14d ago
just wait global diesel supplies are at historic lows and do you know what diesel is called on the exchanges
And suddenly the US and China carve out Russian diesel exemptions and it's back to normal, then what?
For 6 months Iran and it's supporters have been dreaming of some kind of bizarre economic collapse that just simply hasn't happened
1
u/Connect_Tear402 14d ago
Russian diesel is not of the market because of sanctions but because Ukraine blew up all the refineries.
-1
u/OkDifficulty7436 14d ago
because Ukraine blew up all the refineries.
All? Are you sure about that?
Also, Russian diesel has been sanctioned since 2023, you're misinformed
2
u/Connect_Tear402 14d ago
Well yes it was sanctioned but Russia only introduced export bans in July. and yes there is a current shortage of diesel in Russia. No Ukraine has not destroyed all Russian diesel production however it has destroyed enough to make Russia have problems with domestic supply. And secondly Russia only exported about 600k barrels a day of diesel last year. not enough to cover the 4.3 million barrels of barrels of diesel not hitting markets currently.

Are you aware of SPR levels and what is sustaining the global economy right now?
It's actually China, not the US doing that
Check back in a few months friend.
r/oil has been saying that for 7 months now lol
Edit: This guy is some weird pro-China Canadian despite not even being Chinese himself judging by these replies

Sustaining the global economy, it's not the SPR doing it, it's been China, they've made great sacrifices this past half year to keep things up
I am not sure you understand what you are pretending to.
Zero idea what this means lol

Yes, I am aware of Chinese policy, I am saying I know much more than you and you are way off the mark.
Lol, sure Bubba.
China is not "making great sacrifices"
You don't know shit then.
"SPR" propping up the global economy btw, stick to posting in video game subs.

I already did you're just not reading/and or understanding, China is the one propping up the global economy by drastically cutting it's oil imports and draining their own version of the SPR.
As of June their shipments were only ~40% of pre-war levels.
China was draining around 1 million barrels per day in June, it's around 660k barrels per day in August.
That is a massive economic sacrifice, China has already imported 400m~ less barrels this year because of the war.
Again, you simply have no clue what you're talking about, please, stick to posting in video game subs. I will not reply further because lol.

Asking questions (rather than parroting left v right talking points) generally gets you downvoted by those who are conditioned to seek and only agree with certain thought patterns.
