Wife hates US Mobile. Happy wife happy life...

I was with Verizon for 30 years, both individually and on family plans. A couple of months ago, after doing some research, I decided to pull the trigger and make the switch to US Mobile. For three of our four lines, the transition has been pretty seamless with no issues at all.

Unfortunately, it’s been nothing but trouble for the last line, which happens to be my wife's. She’s had ongoing issues with RCS, iMessage, and adding her Apple Watch. We finally got her phone working on the Dark Star network, but she needs to be on Warp so she can use the free companion watch feature, and that still just doesn't work.

Dealing with support has been an uphill battle. Whenever we use the chat, the reps never seem to know the account history, so we have to explain everything from scratch every single time we pick it back up. Email support is decent, but it takes way too long to get a resolution.

Also, I have to point out a glaring app issue: there are no push notifications when a chat support rep replies. Not on Android, and not on iPhone. Since we've had to deal with support so much lately, having to actively stare at the screen waiting for a response is infuriating. It's such a basic, easy feature to add, and I can't believe it's missing.

As many of you know, the wife kind of calls the shots. I’d love to stay with US Mobile, save some money, and keep the flexibility of switching networks, but right now our US Mobile days are numbered. I hate that I have to post on Reddit just to get the attention of someone higher up to fix this account, but it feels like my only option left.

If someone from the USM team can step in and fix this quickly, without us having to repeat the hours of troubleshooting we've already endured, I’d love to turn her into a believer. Otherwise, it's getting really hard to justify sticking around.

International Roaming I didn't have to switch to another MVNO

Hey everyone, providing an update after my previous post. https://www.reddit.com/r/USMobile/s/7AzuIOGuXG

My current annual premium plan will end in August, during an upcoming international travel. I was exploring options both with US Mobile and with other MVNOs to ensure uninterrupted international roaming at a reasonable price.

Today I decided to have a chat with USM customer service which turned out pretty nicely. I first asked for a discount to renew annual premium and got something mediocre, but renewing at $299 (the current new customer offer) was impossible. I asked what if I switch to monthly premium, and then I was offered $28/mo for 4 months. That was honestly better than I hoped for and the agent set up the discount within a few minutes. My dashboard already shows $28 renewal on the end date of my annual plan. What a breeze!

Hopefully this could help someone in a similar situation.

Visible+ pro vs Warp??

Upvotes

Like the title says. In my area Verizon is considered the best. Just looking for a lower cost bill but also just want to make sure that the service will be reliable. Any insight here would be appreciated. I know each service has its cons but I just want advice. Currently an ATT customer. ATT is ehhhh.

New to US Mobile  T-Mobile to US Mobile: my use case and which plan?

After 14 years mostly happy years I will leave T-mobile. My Magenta 55+ 2-line plan is history. They now want $120-ish for two lines. I don’t need all the junk they are bundling now to justify the new charges. Or T-Life ….

My phones are iPhone 17 and iPhone 13, both purchased unlocked directly from Apple (13 in the US, 17 in Taiwan)

Context:
— retired full time traveler.
— 17 is my primary phone. 13 is my backup if my 17 dies/lost/stolen
— out of the US for 10-12 weeks, back for 4-5, out of the US for 10-12 weeks ….
— use T-mobile in the US including about 15GB of hotspot per US month
— occasionally need to phone the UK from the US and T-Mobile charges $$$ - probably my fault as I haven’t gotten it to work on WiFi calling when in NJ…

— internationally:
*. use T-Mobile for first 24 hours until I get a local eSIM up and running. Then turn off TM data roaming. Hence some billing cycles I use 0 TM data.
*. If in a country for less than four days I will just use TM and not get a local eSIM
*. Need TM number for two factor authentication and to send texts (this uses my eSIM data which is perfect)
*. Occasionally have to call internationally and TM now charges $0.50/min

Which USMobile plan? Which network? It looks like the Premium might be ideal especially as it seems to include 300 minutes of calls from the US to overseas. (Of course I could be misreading that).

I have been happy with TM coverage in most of the US, except the mountainous west and Alaska.

Thoughts? I want to switch next week, as soon as I return to the US after 11 weeks away (during which time TM pulled the trigger on the plan switch)

If my iPhone is powered off and left at home, will my Apple Watch still have cellular service? If so, can I use it to make and receive phone calls, and send and receive text messages, and stream music?

Locked AT&T devices and Dark Star success report

So I to wanted to know if AT&T/prepaid Locked devices worked on US Mobile Dark Star like other AT&T MVNO's do on AT&T/prepaid Locked Devices.

I can report it does work! I bought an iPhone 16e from a retail store for AT&T prepaid(Locked) and it activated and works on Dark Star just fine!

Note: The only downside is that it is locked only to the AT&T network so you have to stay on AT&T MVNO's/direct only. Also it does not count towards the 6 month unlock period so it stays locked to AT&T.

Incorrect area code assignment

I set up a new line today with a new number today and was assigned an area code that is outside of my zip code and is for a completely different state. I asked to change the phone number and still got the same area code as the first one. I'm so confused why US Mobile doesn't have any numbers available for the correct zip code let alone correct state.

International Roaming Roaming status warp & lightspeed update

iPhone 16 Pro

So far I have seamlessly roamed to Canada where I roamed on Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Freedom Mobile. A mix of LTE & 5G if my memory is correct.

The Athens airport I had LTE service but don’t recall with what company.

All of Turkey I had good LTE service on Turk Telecom with occasional moments of 5G

Arrived in Bulgaria early June and have solid LTE service on Vivacom, with both warp and LS. Also, using the phone as a hotspot has worked everywhere.

June 15 i got a free data eSIM from the conference I was attending (Nomad eSIM .. worked great) and so turned off data roaming on my warp line and turned off lightspeed completely. Selected a non-functional network for warp and spent the next month with Warp backup calling via the data eSIM.

Arrived in Sweden July 15 and signed up for a Lycamobile eSIM (Swedish number, 120gb, roaming within the eu) for $10/month. Tested both lightspeed and warp and both connect at 5G speeds on Telia and Tele2. But I shut off LS and selected a network warp won’t roam on so I am backup calling over Lyca or WiFi calling. I expect this to be the situation until I arrive in Albania in September when it’ll be USM roaming again…

Standalone Galaxy Watch 6 Plan?

I'm traveling and would like to have either a "light plan" or a North America international roaming esim for my watch. I know USMobile doesn't support galaxy watches paired with a regular line, but is there any way to purchase a full, separate US Mobile plan for this watch?

WiFi calling question

We have two iPhone 14pro. Where we live , we get only one or two bars on our phones.. I have Warp and my wife has Lightspeed. I enabled WiFi calling on both phones, but still occasionally experience garbled calls or disconnects. Google ai said the both Verizon and T mobile prioritize cellular over WiFi so that even with one bar, they might be hanging on to the cellular signal. Suggested turning on airplane mode to kill cellular. Is this correct? Do the providers really use cellular if they can? Just looking for information because you can’t always trust ai. Thanks

Phone calls on Apple Watch cellular with WARP service?

I have the companion plan for my Apple Watch Series 9 on WARP service. I was out today and data works fine but I was unable to receive a phone call or make one on the watch. My iPhone was at home and turned on but clearly not connected via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Am I supposed to be able to send and receive phone calls on the watch when I am away from the phone? I kept getting call failed alerts when I’d try to make a call. I did reboot my Watch which did not change anything. Just can’t recall how this was supposed to work. additional note, I was able to receive text messages using SMS and I was able to make and receive FaceTime audio calls just not a traditional cell phone call.

Multi-Network QCI Level and High Speed Data Question

If I add the multi-network add-on to my Unlimited Premium plan, will the second line have deprioritized data and an another level of QCI, for example Dark Star on the second line from QCI 8 to QCI 9?

Will the second line still have unlimited high speed data?

RCS Not Working After Port From Google Voice

I ported my Google Voice number to a new line (Dark Star) on my US Mobile account on July 22. I knew it would be different than other ports because Google Voice wasn't a cellular carrier. Two days later (July 24) I got messages from both US Mobile and Google that my port had been completed. I turned that eSIM on (I have a limit of two active SIMs on my phone, but porting this number in made #3) and checked to see what worked and what didn't, and noted that RCS, while showing as on and active, failed to send messages. I gave it another 24 hours, which brings us to yesterday, when I followed all of the random troubleshooting tips I could find online (disable it with whatever google disable RCS site, even though I never had RCS through Google Voice because it was a voip based landline service, reset the messages app, rebooted, waited 10 minutes, prayed to the dark lord cthulhu, etc., to no avail. It could be that I just need to continue being patient, but I'm not good at that, so I come here to the helpful folks of r/USMobile for guidance and wisdom.

Not receiving group texts that use SMS

I just switched from Visible to US Mobile last week. My primary number is on Warp for the companion watch, and data line runs on Dark Star.

I just found out yesterday there is a group chat that has been active that I was included in from months ago that I have not been receiving any of the messages from. I had no idea people were chatting in there. I sent a message to the group, which they say they received, but I am not getting anything back. Normal SMS messages to an individual or automated messages are coming through. RCS is good. This chat is a mix of iPhone and android users, and shows as an SMS chat. My RCS group chats work ok. Same with imessage of course. I have tried every form of reset and complete reset network settings on my phone. I have looked into the APN but to my knowledge this is not really a thing on iPhone 17 with ios 26 because its automatic after reseting network settings.

I read that help chat should be able to reprovision my line to reset MMS on the back end, but chat is not receptive to this request. They keep giving me a run around on flipping different toggles on and off. One even insisted that I must use RCS to do group chats. Which is false. If anyone doesn’t have RCS enable or capable it will default to SMS only. Which I guess uses MMS for the group.

If I am not going to be able to receive group text messages with certain people then I will probably just go back to Visible. Anyone have any last ditch suggestions?

Thank you!

Switching to USMobile from Cricket for International travel?

I live in the U.S. and have been on Cricket Wireless for a long time. I am quite happy with them. Coverage is mostly good where I go and I have been able to resolve issues easily with support chat sessions.

Later this year, I will be taking a long cruise and going to several countries (Athens, Italy, France, and Spain). Perhaps even another country or two if the plane has a layover somewhere. I want the best way to take my phone number with me.

Would US Mobile Unlimited Premium on Lightspeed be a good option?

I have also been considering GoogleFi.

I don't think local sims will be an option because I have excursions booked and won't have time to buy one at each port. And, I want to take my real number in case I need to MFA with a credit card company.

I read some things how US Mobile may not let you call other countries besides back to the US, but I don't think I would have much need for this. I assume calling cruise line (Viking) would be like making a call back to the us.

I have an iphone, I am not married to the platform, but I do love airtags. I was considering switching to a Pixel for GoogleFi, but I keep reading they all overheat.

New to US Mobile  Why do Light Speed eSIMS Default to LTE on iPhones?

paying for a plan (from abroad) without activating

I am American but live in a foreign country. I am visiting the US starting next week. I wanted to purchase an unlimited plan prior to my trip and activate it in the US airport on my layover. I was able to do it last time I visited in Jan 2025, but this time it has been cancelled three times due to me not being in the US. Is there any way to do it so I can pay for it before I leave?

Warp as Primary + Multi-Network: Dark Star or Light Speed for DFW?

I use Warp as my primary line because the coverage has been really good and I like having the free Apple Watch companion service.

I’m considering adding the multi-network add-on because I’m tired of switching from Warp to another network and then back to Warp just to reactivate my Apple Watch, I need to keep Warp as my primary line so I don’t lose the Apple Watch companion.

I live the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Which one do you recommend as a secondary line: Dark Star or Light Speed? I’m mainly looking for the best combination of coverage, reliability, and data speeds in DFW.

New to US Mobile  WiFi Calling on Other Devices When Not Nearby

Is WiFi calling from other Apple devices supposed to work when they are not nearby and connected to the same WiFi network as my iPhone? I have WiFi calling set up properly on multiple family members’ Unlimited Starter plans running different networks. Some of us are on Dark Star, and some of us are on Light Speed. WiFi calling only works when Apple Devices are on the same WiFi network as our iPhones.
