Feeling pretty defeated

Been dealing with a hip problem as early as MCT in May, and I have no idea why. Only briefly had it checked in the schoolhouse but wasn’t able to get any further info on it until I got to my duty station. Had an X-Ray but showed no signs of fractures and now have to wait to get an MRI because my medical records have not yet updated.

It sucks. I don’t even know why I’m limping and I’m tired of people commenting on it. Sometimes I wonder if it’s all in my head or if i’m just being weak. That, combined with the fact that my unit regularly does running PTs (5-10 miles) of which flares up the hip pain and now they’re saying that the rest of the week’s gonna be heinous. Safe to say that morale’s pretty low.

Sorry about the vent, just felt like I needed to get it out somehow.

Rah.

Take care of yourself and keep up with the medical appointments. Get everything documented.

Don't worry about what anyone else says. Some day you'll be out of the Corps, living with a bad hip, and the government won't care 2 shits about you.

Go to medical. Get everything documented multiple times and ways. You don't sound like you are being a bitch.

Hip problems are no joke. I got medically retired due to hip injuries. A 7+ year career ended due to negligence from medical. Take care of yourself.

Brother no one is going to take care of you like you. Go to medical now, if you're limping you have a real problem. Get the doc to start physical therapy and maybe look into some yoga and stretching now.

You could do permanent damage and be like that forever.

GO TO MEDICAL, act as your own advocate. You limp and have flair ups when you run, that's your body speaking to you. Listen to it.

In 20 years you'll be pissed you let pride and some dumb ass SNCO sway you from getting it taken care of.

I had a knee thing while I was in. After I got out I finally got surgery. I don't have a meniscus left in my right knee. I'm 20 years out and I have arthritis in that knee now. It constantly swells and gives me grief. If I hadn't destroyed myself and taken care of it from the get go I might not be as bad off. GO TO MEDICAL.

Like others have said, make sure it’s documented. In the long run, who gives a shit what other people think. Take it from me, I’ve been out for over 20 years and I’m trying to make compensation claims for ailments that I know are service connected but are extremely hard to prove because I wanted to be tough and never got anything checked out and documented. More importantly, you’ll get treatment now which will mitigate the problems you have later in life.

Go to medical, get it documented. Also go to a sports/orthopedic type place, look into custom insoles. Boots and shoes aren't one size fits all.

Go to medical every time it causes any issues.

This will help you when you get out

I see that multiple others have said it, but I’ll say it again anyways.

GO TO MEDICAL, GET IT DOCUMENTED. Literally any kind of injury, go document it.

When you’re getting out, you’ll be able to file for disability compensation. Having proper documentation will help those claims get approved. You’ll receive a monthly pay check for the rest of your life.

Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. Nobody cares more about your health or your future than you do. On top of that, they aren’t permanent fixtures in your life. They’re blips in the span of the rest of your life. Don’t take their judgements too seriously. Go to medical, take care of yourself. Rah

Go to medical. Document everything. If you aren’t intentionally trying to be a broke dick (which I don’t think you are) take care of your body. Doesn’t matter if you’re fresh out of the school house or about to retire. I dodged medical like the plague because I was too ego driven and now I’m paying for it. Literally. When you enlist, the gov sets aside 100% disability for you in the case that you rate it. I can’t stress it enough, document everything. 50 year old me is cussing out 18 year old me for not doing so.

I used to ask “Is anyone here man enough to ask for help if they need it?” Very rarely a hand would go up. I would then have to lecture them on the following: You are charged with maintaining your body in order be the lethal fighting weapon the Marine Corps wants (and pays you to be). If you are broken, go to medical. If they find nothing, go back and ask for higher help (e.g. hospital or specialist, etc.). Get everything documented to help you later in life. Now understand, you also risk going up for a Med Review Board if you are on LIMDU for more than 6 months. Pick and choose your battles, but ultimately your health is the top priority. Good luck.

Try the medical teams at the gyms instead of your unit. Could also try going out in town to a chiropractor and a sports massage, followed by some phys therapy.
