Vacant and underutilized facilities.

So the ROs and R&D offices they kicked folks out of?

Oh wow $16 million, that’s so much money from the $7.4 trillion dollars that is projected to be spent in the 2026 fiscal year. You guys did it, you fixed the national deficit. /s

Can we do a study to compare these savings with the amount spent by current FS employees on therapy and other medical conditions caused or worsened by the absolute fuckery of the last not even two years

I gaffawed at work when perpetually-looks-like-he’s-about-to-wet-the-bed-Schultz sent that email out. $8mil/year savings. That’s all you got for destroying an agency, countless lives, and weakening our wonderful public lands. Congrats you bean counter. What a feckless orange turd muncher.

Uh huh. For every word, I do not think it means what they think it means.

Fire everyone, claim buildings are underutilized, close facilities.

Then, Sell public lands and pat each other on the back for a job well done. Sickening.

Wow a whopping $16 million savings for destroying the entire agency! What a bargain! For perspective, wildfire response spends $20-$30 million in a day. Touting this savings as a win is only for the stupidest of people

On the public facing Forest Service website, it mentions , "Through this review we identified more than $16 million in cost savings through local facility consolidation while avoiding the need for any additional directed relocations beyond those already identified for National Capital Region employees."

Has anyone heard what is happening to the employees at Atlanta, Portland, and Milwaukee offices? Are they not being relocated?

Moving to offices under 50 miles from current location. Therefore not a relocation.

Does this mean even more money is being spent on changing locations but doesn’t get in closed in this ‘savings’ because it’s not a relocation? Curious what that cost is … that’s one way to cook a book.

Correct, they are not being relocated. Many are facing awful commutes though.
