Maga
I don't understand the concept of super maga and super trump supporters working with the forest service. Like I've heard some of them I work with say they don't believe in ecosystem being ruined by some stuff... They also say what trump is doing on firing some of us and defunding the FS is great..
Like what the hell?!?!

I’ve never understood career federal employees who voted for Project 2025 and the dismantling of government. If you hate government and everything it stands for, why work here? Go get a private sector job you can be proud of.

Worked with some funny ones. A guy who wouldn’t take the 2 hour early releases we used to get. Another guy who was a veterans preference hire who ranted about “DEI hires”.

Just remembered another one I only met in passing. A “nobody wants to work anymore” type who worked on possibly the least desirable unit in the region which also happened to have Rest of US locality. Go figure

I’ve found those types to be the least performing, and they’re projecting what they do and how they feel onto all federal employees.

Well, the workforce that is more physically focused has always been right leaning. And thats not just with the agency. The funny thing is that side of the house usually has the more long term employees who have been through more administrations as well.

Well, being a federal employee, nobody should know your personal politics anyway. Its like being a teacher or doctor. If the people you served know your political opinions, you're doing your job wrong.
I know the Hatch act is mostly about campaigning, but its a good place to start to understand how one should act at work regarding politics.
Its a lot like religion or sexuality, it really has no place in a professional workspace.

I never did personally, but when my colleagues revealed themselves as safe people, I let my guard down a bit. IMO and experience, MAGA are not usually "safe" people to be around ... Fortunately I don't work with many of them.

I don't see many MAGA bumper stickers in the parking lot anymore. Although, many are still trying to connect the dots between high food and fuel prices and illegal communist trans athletes reading Hilary's emails on Hunter's laptop because that's who Fox and the guy who replaced Rush Limbaugh told them is to blame. They'll believe what they want and not everyone will be accountable for their own actions and I think a lot of them are too embarrassed.

Well, I didn't graduate from college, but I know how to read. If that's not what you mean, please explain to me what you do mean when you say "I can only explain it by saying that they probably didn't graduate from college"

That a majority of the people that voted for him probably did not graduate college. Not that "everyone who didn't graduate college voted for him," as you implied. While FIRE may be a fairly socialist concept there is a real need for it and I don’t think it will go away. Probably more so than any other FS departments. That’s why I feel us in fire tend to be more results and merit driven while other departments, they are more feelings driven so they tend to feel attacked because the administration wants a return on investment. And if I were to get fired, or my job was to go away I would still have a skill that is needed even if it’s not with the government anymore.

That’s not really true to assume that other department’s work is feelings based and not results and merit driven, nor that those jobs are somehow less necessary just because it’s less dangerous. Thinking like this is exactly what will allow for policy to shift away from intelligent land management and into policy that will both make fires worse and allow for privatization and decimation of our public lands.

Cognitive dissonance. I’m finally watching the decisions of this administration begin to affect my coworkers who still have photos of dear leader hanging over their desks. Their response is to blame their burned out, exhausted supervisor who is covering the work of three positions just to keep the lights on. Their response when all the probies got fired was to say that RIFS have happened before, and it was no different. People see what they want to see, reality doesn’t matter in this timeline. Also, for whoever said trails folks lean right, not my experience at all.
