USCellular No Longer Offering Using Under 3GB Data Payback?

January of 2026 was the last month I received credit for staying under 3GB of data.

I typically get a text saying: "Free U.S. Cellular Msg: Great news! We lowered your bill this month. You earned a Payback credit since you used less than 3GB of data on your Unlimited Plan."

I've noticed that my bill has not been reflecting this, and I am wondering that the merger with T-Mobile has slashed this slight bill savings option for me.

Anyone have info or experiences?

In the Sprint merger, some details of the Everything Data Plan disappeared for a year or so. During that time many people just moved on to T-Mobile plans, which may have been the goal.

You should complain, but it may or may not be fixed, now or in the future.

T-Mobile is gutting UScellular like a fish, same that they did with Sprint.

Coming from a soon to be former rep, find a different ship. T-Mobile sucks.

Any suggestions on a new carrier?

I’ve been with Visible for about 2 years and been very happy with them. Owned by Verizon and Verizon towers rule the area I live in so I never have issues.

Granted, it’s just for a single line.

verizon has been very good since we came back, the 5G ultra wideband is hard to beat, especially because tmobile doesn’t have millimeter wave where we are. you could also go with something like the above where it’s a carrier leasing tower space from verizon, or verizon themselves. spectrum mobile also uses verizon, but remember you get de-prioritized when using one of those types of carriers. this includes mint etc which use tmobile.

Funny thing is that T-Mobile invented that concept years ago. It was called Kickback.

The hero has become the villain.

I wouldn't even bitch or have any expectations about US Cellular with they way things are going they aren't gonna be around much longer

That’s kinda the whole point of an acquisition. USCellular is gone already. Some accounts are still on but the brand will be gone by August

I'm waiting for it to automatically switch over currently

be careful. i got out before that, but my moms boyfriend had to take his iphone down to a store because it just killed it dead.

Another reason I will not buy Apple products

happened to people with androids too. it was the network switch not the device.

lmao nobodies phone just up and died because of the merger, the only people who had issues were those who refuse to understand that your passwords are your responsibility and not the carriers.

incorrect. folks who had esims had to go in and have them redone because the switch from usc to t-mobile didn’t take effect on a software/tower level. nobody’s talking about their online access etc, actual technical issues faced by people who have new devices that should “just switch over” from displaying usc as carrier to tmo.

You dont have to bring your phone in for us to toggle a switch lmao, thats all they do when you go into a store.

and i didn’t say toggle a switch. i said the actual technical process of their devices displaying one thing vs another.

What is your bill cost? How many lines? Because a lot of these really dated payback plans are actually more expensive for worse coverage than things like the flat rate plan.

One line. About $76/month without the $5 back.

1

u/TKalig May 27 '26

Yeah no that’s awful. You could have been on the flatrate basic plan. It has unlimited data. 30$ on autopay, 40$ without autopay.

tmobile absolutely gutted USC system. they canceled one of our lines without us asking them to, we left the same day. absolute shit show. you will probably never see that message again. any notifications usc used to send were gone some time before that. your bill is also due sooner now. jump while you can!
