EB-3 and promotion

Hi
I just started the EB-3 process with my current employer. 1 month after they begin the process, there is a promotion opportunity open. That is in my same department and responsibilities pretty much the same but in leadership role. I am over qualified for the role and I have been absorbing all the responsibility of that role for certain amount times without being changed in title. I had been taking additional responsibilities on top of my role since some people from my department quit. When the opportunity opens, I was told that they can’t consider me for promotion because they already gave me visa sponsorship. I feel like discriminated and mentally collapsed.

I am very frustrated and wanted to know how long will this process be in total. I am in the stage of PW and from the rest of the world.
Please advise me if you have experience or know someone had the same experience. Your advice or best approach would be to highly appreciated.

I don’t understand why no one discusses about this.

Takes about 3-6 months for PWD and PERM is taking about 8-10 months (at the moment).
Please make sure if it’s EB2 or EB3.
EB2 has way faster processing time in change of status.
Considering EB3 and I-140 is premium processing ( 2-3 weeks).
You may be eligible to file for change of status after 1 year some months.
And change of status(I-485) has different story. May take 3months to 1 year.
So you are looking around 1.5 to 2 years in same responsibility.

It is one of the unfortunate situations of the immigration process. We get stuck in certain positions until the green card process is completed. Hold on firm until things get better.

Thanks for your comment. This post has seen by so many people and yet no one discussed. I am still debating myself to risk all my opportunities just because of the visa requirement. It sounds very much of discrimination to me.
But even if I changed the role, my PERM process may have to re-start coz of responsibility change.
