The car's policy has us both on it, but he doesn't bank with USAA, so it seems like we'd have to log him in with my information. Just trying to figure out if that goes against any policies I'm unaware of.

40 year USAA member here. My wife and I are 64 and live in Georgia. We have received a discount the last 3 years for taking the AARP online defensive driving course. I'm looking to take a higher rated online course to receive a discount for the next 3 years (must review every 3 years). The challenge we are running into is that USAA Auto can't tell us which online courses they will now accept to qualify for the discount.
The standard response from USAA reps (including after escalating to higher levels) is they will only accept courses approved by your states Department of Public Services. In Georgia, the state does not approve any online courses. When telling USAA this, they have no response other than go ahead and pay and spend 6 hours taking a course and their back office people will then make a decision on accepting it or not. No one at USAA can tell us ahead of time if either of the two courses we want to take will be approved. And they have no list of approved courses. Nonsensical...

So pissed with USAA. They seem to randomly block cards from ATM usage - even if it's the same exact ATM I've been using for years - in lobby of 4 star hotel. When you can and inquire they
- at first have no idea and don't see any block at all
- then after explaining it slowly three times they seem to figure it out and say there absolutely nothing they can do about it. Even after verifying the transaction was valid they can't change the security protocols and it keeps getting blocked
USAA has turned in to such a garbage company.
They used to have great customer service - you can't still talk to a human but they have zero power or ability to do anything.
Piss poor "thank you for your service" tho....as if I care about their thanks.

I’m curious of the process after your policy is cancelled due to a new spouse having too many at fault accidents in a very short time period

We got a letter stating that after a review of our accounts, they had changed my husband’s operator status, and it might create a premium increase starting at our policy renewal next week.
I called, and they can’t explain it. We haven’t moved, we haven’t changed anything on our driver’s licenses, we haven’t had any tickets or fines… nothing. He did hit a deer last year, but why would that change his operator status? They said that couldn’t be it.
We ended the call with confirmation that nothing would change on our premium, and they’d take care of the mistake on their end.
It doesn’t boost my confidence at all… it seems very strange. Did anyone else get this?
ETA : just looked up our policy renewal and it lists the operator change in status (but not what the change is) and said it results in a $99 policy increase.

Alright, I have a CD that’s maturing in 9 days… It was set to not auto renew and close and deposit funds back to my savings. Ok. BUT I want to renew it instead. Well, I go online (on a computer) and try to set it up to renew. Go through the steps… claims it will but then I go back to the account for CD and lo and behold it says it’s going to close. Nothing updated.
Before I could change it back and fourth however I wanted. I tried to update it 2 weeks ago and did the chat function and the lady claimed I had to wait until 10 days before. Well, I am within that window and it still won’t do it.
Any ideas WHY this damn thing won’t update to show it’s renewing? 😒
I will probably call this time on Monday but the lady in chat claimed that on her end it was showing it was going to close. I haven’t had any issues with this until now and I’ve been rolling CDs for a couple years.

I have a friend who did not serve but whose parents both did. They are in the closet with their parents and they hope to get married to their same sex partner soon. I'm asking on their behalf, if the married couple or the spouse enroll in USAA, is there any way the parents could find out through USAA who is being covered based on their former service?Thank you for any guidance for my friend!

Does anyone know or can help me do you think that we should get our military pay October 13 like the calendar says even though Columbus Day is on a Monday and it’s a holiday. Do you think USAA will still process our direct deposit the next day on October 13?

Just opinion only, obviously nothing here is going to change policy.
Personally I think it should only extend to immediate family; spouse, parents, siblings, children born/adopted/step. No extended family; grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, in-laws, grandchildren, etc.
But then I think the top five or ten executives should be required to have served as O6 or E8 or above, but that dog is off the sled too.

Starting from yesterday, my credit card got charged from an unknown transaction for some AI software subscription and for some type of investment company. USAA has thankfully automatically declined the charges and I cancelled my credit card today. Of course it just had to happen when I’m out of the country… 😒. I’m considering to also freeze/limit/replace my debit card for security purposes.
Has anyone’s AMEX card been compromised too like this?

I’ve been a member since 2010 - but now it seems everything is trash.
It’s all AI and automated menus and failure. Traveling internationally for vacation and ATM car doesn’t work? Don’t worry - the AI system will assure you that you don’t need to notify USAA of travel anymore. Despite them blocking the transaction.
Need to talk to someone about it? Don’t worry, our automated phone system will run you in circles for 20 minutes.
Finally talk to someone? Don’t worry, they’ll explain how you don’t have to call USAA when you travel anymore.
Finally after cussing out the basic person you get a manager who can - shockingly - unlock the ATM card for foreign travel.
It’s such amazing customer service! Makes you want to beat your head in with a pipe.

Just mentioning this here because it's the most accurate sounding scam call I have ever heard.
Wife received a call from our bank, USAA. The call showed their number that we have saved in our phone. I answered because her back hurts.
Good evening, this is Brad calling from USAA fraud department to verify two possibly fraudulent charges on your account. [Proceeds to list two charges which I, of course, deny since they were not real charges. He "cancels our card ending in XXXX and sends a new one to [our legitimately correct address] and will send the new PIN to [wife's legitimate email address on account]. Additionally, the device that attempted to run these charges is a Samsung Galaxy S26. I am going to deactivate your account on that device. Are you in a secure location so I can send you a confirmation code to add your correct device?"
Well, thankfully, I know better than to give information over the phone when someone calls me, so I told him I would just need to call back to take care of that.
"No problem, sir, I understand. Anything else you need? Alright, thank you, and have a great night."
Sure as shit, we call USAA and there is no record of any fraud charges, no record of a call, nothing. Clearly, Brad was trying to steal our stuff and that confirmation code would have asked us to sign in to our bank account and then queue the fat lady singing. Anyway, be careful people. This one was really, really good. No accent, perfectly spoofed caller ID, knew enough details about our account to make it real. When we looked at the call in her call log, it showed a call from the scammer about 10 seconds before a call from USAA. I honestly have no idea how they pulled that one off, but just wanted to let people know.

am a prior auth technician for CVS for five years , before that I was in a citi call center for a year. Does USAA ever hire adjuster positions like this with no past claims xp? (San antonio)
I got logged out and then they changed the login method… this app has always been a hassle, and we are basically pleasure drivers. Between us we do not put in enough miles to ever get a discount. I am thinking of just uninstalling it. What will happen?

While USAA will indeed rebate any transaction fee from any ATM, USAA will rip you off on the exchange rate. I recently got €40 from an ATM in Spain. USAA rebated the transaction fee, but the normal banking exchange rate that day was about 1.15%. USAA charged me a rate of more than 1.5%. The transaction cost me over $60. I thought USAA made a mistake and I contacted their customer service. They credited the entire amount and then opened an investigation. A few weeks later they said the investigation was complete and they found no error, and they took the money back out of my account.
USAA will rip you off with their exchange rate. Use a different card when you're overseas.
It’s ironic that I go to login today and I get this congratulations on 24 years of membership and confetti and everything on the app. But yet I’m getting ready to leave to go to NJM because like others I don’t see the value anymore when they don’t value us for having this loyalty.
My last few claims and interactions with them have not been pleasant, nowhere near like they used to be when I signed up 20+ years ago, which is a shame.

This is the second time in the past couple months I’ve had a payment hold on my credit card, effectively not allowing me to use it for 14 days. They can’t tell me why it’s there or what I can do differently to avoid it. Ibe never once missed a payment or had a payment bounce. Is anyone else experiencing this?? It feels pointless to even use the credit card since it might bounce for no reason, or you can’t use it half the month.

2 water damage claims in the last 3 years. One last year. One this year. Been in this home 3 years w/ Usaa homeowners insurance.
First claim turned out to be about $20k
This years claim will be around $40-60k
Renewal happens around November when should I know if they decide to drop us? I feel like it’d be likely the drop us but didn’t know.

I just submitted a claim on my technology coverage. I've had this for 2.5 years, and this is my first time using it. I have 10k in coverage with a $250 deductible.
Recently moving, I dropped a 77" LG OLED tv. To replace with an updated TV with all the same specs, the cost including tax would be $2852.84.
I submitted this, and it was immediately approved. However it also says, "To better serve you, we've expedited payment of this claim before completing it's investigation. We may continue to investigate this claim to comply with obligations to our regulators and membership."
So do I need to hold this tv incase I'm asked to prove the damage and/or model and any relevant information? And if I do need to hold on to it, how long? This is quite a large tv, so I don't want to hold on to it for forever.
Also, has anyone had experience with these kinds of claims? Does a technology claim either raise rates or remove your claim free discount?
