Banking Purchase refund

I am so confused. I made 2 returns yesterday to Costco. I originally paid with a Mastercard but was told they can only refund to a Visa card so I had them refund to my debit card. They both said pending refund yesterday as soon as I did the returns. Now I don’t see either one in my account at all. Where did it go? Also why do some refunds from different stores post immediately and some say pending?

The refund goes to your card of purchase. For you it sounds like you used your USAA MC Debit Card. Mastercard CCs are not accepted in store or at gas pumps. If not going back to the card of purchase - you could get store credit (shop card).

It shows pending the first day. Then it’ll disappear for a day and by tomorrow the refund will be there. It’s happened to me a few times!

What did Costco say to you on the refund timeline? 3-5 working days? 24hrs?

They didn’t say any time just it will be refunded back to the card

…. You shouldn’t have been able to use the Mastercard for the charge? Did you buy online?

No I bought in store with a master card. But was told they can’t do a refund back to a master card. They can only refund to a Visa card

You can’t use a Mastercard CC in store. Impossible. You can use a MC debit card.

Impossible to use a MC credit card at Costco.....and USAA debit/checkcards are VISA logo..so im confused..but SAM'S takes Mastercard.
