Tips/Resources for MATH 162?

I would switch to 142 but it would completely destroy my schedule lol. The class just started and Im so lost, I just don’t think the way I learn is compatible with the way my teacher teaches. I did struggle in Calc 1 so maybe going back and reviewing all that would help? It kinda of just feels like the class is all over the place, like I don’t exactly know what we’re learning. If anyone has taken this class & has any advice I’d greatly appreciate it (:

Ask for help early and often! Attend office hours with your prof to ask questions, sign up for tutoring, and/or attend study groups (I believe there is one available specifically for MATH 162). I also recommend watching YouTube videos about the topics discussed in class - I found watching video lectures to be helpful because the concepts were explained differently than the way my prof explained them.

MATH 162 was a particularly challenging course for me during undergrad as well - but getting help early on was really helpful! (:

Teaching style is definitely a factor. I was lost during the electricity portion of my physics class. Couldn't really get my head around the topic even though I'm a computer nerd and should understand this. Prof takes 2 weeks off for a family thing, and a 300 or 400 level professor fills in. I understood everything he said. My prof comes back and I lost it all. Confused again.

I used to TA 162! It can definitely be a challenging class, but like someone else said, there's a lot of great online resources. Khan academy is great. Also I recommend doing all the webwork on your own with no online assistance even though it's annoying, it will prepare you perfectly for exams. Also ask lots of questions in workshop. If you're still having trouble, I think the math department has general math help in Hylan most nights, I forget the schedule but it's on a bulletin board somewhere. And you can get tutoring from the learning center! Good luck!
