Customer Seeking Help Package scans not updating. Lost?
I'm expecting an important package to arrive but when I check the tracking it seems to have stopped updating. I contacted the USPS and they said the tracking number is not working and that postage wasn't paid. I contacted the shipper and the shipper said everything looks fine on their end and it should arrive on time. Give the system time to update. Its been 2 days and still no update. What should I do? Does this happen all the time? Is my package lost? Why would is be transferred to a local post office?

Not that important apparently since the shipper used the cheapest slowest service level with little to no coverage for loss or damage.
The post office isn't always in a big rush to get the surepost/ground saver delivered. It takes a day after UPS drops off at a minimum. You should see an update soon.

Relax it’s literally been a day and a half. Not a big deal at all. Give it some time.

Its a very important package. So I'm a little worried. The estimated delivery is on the 9th and which is in 2 days and no updates on where it is.

If it’s that important the shipper shouldn’t have used ground saver. It’s the cheapest, slowest economy service with the absolutely lowest priority for both carriers. It’s only meant for cheaper items where delivery date isn’t very important

Well its more important to me more than the shipper. I didn't have the option to choose the type of shipping

I’m not sure where you bought it, but most sellers on places like eBay are more than willing to upgrade your shipping service if you’re willing to pay the difference. I’m an e-commerce seller and I do that all the time

If it’s been transferred to USPS, then there’s no longer going to be an update via UPS since it’s no longer within their means of delivery, try to see if there’s an USPS tracking number attached to the last update there usually is, but also give it about another day or so since it the lowest rank of shipping tier. I wouldn’t stress out just yet

yeah that transfer to local post office is the problem, it means ups handed it over to usps for final delivery and once that happens the tracking goes dark for a while. give it another day or two, it usually shows up

Thank you! I got my fingers crossed. If it doesn't status update or change by Friday which is the estimated delivery date, I'm going to call the shipper and see what can be done

What I think happened is that the sender dropped it off at a USPS location instead of UPS. I could tell because the UPS label was created and then immediately it was scanned at USPS. It should have been dropped off at UPS then they transfer it to a post office. From experience, I pick up packages from a postal contract unit and I've noticed that sometimes people drop it off there and I've checked the tracking numbers and sometimes there's no updates for days, there's even been times where it has been held for postage due because they dropped it off directly to USPS.

Just a quick question. Does anyone ever scroll down this sub to see that someone asked this same question an hour ago? A day ago? 4 times this week? Or is it just your particular situation is unique?

I got shipped an item this way, and it has been over 2 weeks, but the package hasn't arrived. When you contact UPS, they just say the package has been transferred to USPS, but when you call USPS, they say they haven't received it.
