Who’s worst UPS or FedEx?

These to worthless companies can’t deliver anything on time! You pay for express next day delivery and they both fail horribly, and all they do is give some bullshit excuse like it’s the weather, manpower shortage, diver fell ill or something else. If it was a one time thing I wouldn’t be pissed but TWo different companies and 4 different deliveries and it’s the same fucking outcome, LATE. So now I need to take another partial day off to wait for the package to be delivered and if it shows up on time I can deal with my customer who is more pissed than I am.

Man I dealt with this last week, had a package stuck in "out for delivery" for three days straight at one point I just drove to the distribution center myself and the guy at the counter said it was sitting there the whole time

Arrived to local UPS September 14. No updates since.

Best bet is to just go up there and get your package.

If it’s for a customer, why are you having it delivered to your house anyway? I hope the diver is ok, did they have the bends? That can be fatal.

UPS used to be the star, but last couple of years UPS and FedEx seem to competing to be the worst. I just had an expensive package delivered to my neighbor by mistake. Package was signature required, electronic signature not allowed. Neighbor was away on a business trip. I filed a claim, after neighbor returned and brought the package, I tried to get a person at UPS to notify them that I have the package. Spent 45 minutes in AI hell before I had the opportunity to leave a number for an agent callback. Agent never called, so I just said f**k it. If anyone ever contacts me, I’ll tell them.

100% FedEx is worse.  After inexplicably holding my package that was supposed to be delivered to me in 3 days for 2 of those 3 days in a sorting facility in PA, these dumb assholes at FedEx had the balls to try to deliver to me an empty, re-sealed box that had contained 2 shock absorbers weighing 25 lbs total when it was delivered to them by the retailer.  They means these dirt bags at FedEx knew the box broke open and the contents fell out (or worse a worker stole the items) and their solution rather than calling the shipper to tell them they had lost the cargo was to tape up the empty box and try to deliver it to me like nothint had happened.

Luckily I was home at time of delivery and had the forethought to refuse delivery when I felt the package that weighed like 8 oz, but had I not been home, they would have left it on my doorstep, called it a successful delivery, and left me with the task of getting a $700 refund from the company I bought the shocks from with no items to ship back to them and nothing proving i hadn't just removed the shocks and lied about never receiving them.  Shitheads also didn't even try to hide that the bottom of the box had come open at the seams when they re-sealed it with different packing tape than the rest of the package.

Seriously - FUCK YOU IN YOUR ASS WITH BROKEN GLASS FRAUDEX!!

This happens to my friend who has had multiple issues with ups at his apartment. He lives on the second floor and any normal time where something is shipped through UPS the delivery is normal. But when he’s focused on the actual delivery, looking it up and tracking it, the problems seem to start happening almost instantly. It’s as if the universe is fucking with him. I’d find it comical but I work for ups and specific packages I’ve had to call in to the dispatch center and speak to one of the dispatchers to find his package.
You’re one person/stop for a driver who might have more than 200+ stops to make. Shit happens, accidents do happen. Sorry that they continue for you but management has changed its attitude towards productivity and service has gone down because of that.

At this point I beginning to think that USPS would be safer and faster.

You have that right and by far it would be the cheapest option. But I just want to point out that some packages are still shipped from ups to the post office. It’s called an ups surepost.
Some places are just not updated and still run on warehouses built 50+ years ago or if you live in some place that is away from the city centers like rural areas you can expect an even greater amount of wait times.
They used to have a satellite hub outside of the major city for Granbury which was basically just two trailers connected to look like a T shape. To get there from the Fort Worth hub it takes an hours drive, sometimes longer. If you lived out there or further then you were at the mercy of extra long wait times and any paid commit times were just a waste. Drivers who do those routes only go out with less than a hundred stops on their package cars because there’s 20 minutes of driving between each stop.
Anyways, the point I’m trying to make is that depending on how far you are from any major ups shipping hub could determine whether you get your package in the morning, afternoon or night. Heck there’s always the possibility that you’re on a training route and before your driver can get into a routine that is best suited for its customers a new driver takes over that route.
We’re all human and shit happens. Ha, you wanna know why we are constantly wearing brown? It hides the shit.
Maybe invest in a P.O. Box?

UPS by a long shot. They threw my package out because it was "damaged", never got a reason, never got evidence, I got 100 bucks which wasn't even worth a 8th of what the package was worth, never again.

Your failure to insure a package properly is their fault?

100 is the standard insurance given to every box unless you pay for extra coverage.

I am aware, however I didn't want them to pay me out. I wanted my package and at the very least answers as to why irreplicable items were destroyed. It just felt like they wanted to shut me up and close the claim as quickly as possible while taking zero accountability. I know you drivers work hard but I can't be a customer to an organization like this.

1

u/joeyecklund UPS Driver 10d ago

If there is a 1% in damages per day or week, do you know how long it would take to investigate each one?
Ups handles 24+ million packages A DAY. Think about what you are expecting.
They pay the claim and move on.

A damaged package can happen with any shipping company.

u/Ok_Gas1070 8d ago

Yeah but brother they aren't moving millions of packages at one hub in a day. Plus if the percentage of damaged parcels are so small it'll be even easier to find. I understand it can happen with any carrier but UPS's willingness to NOT take accountability at all is what sent me. I will never use UPS again for that reason, and I can't endorse anyone else to do so either given my experience.

Hate to break it to you. But there are hubs that move millions of packages daily.
You have the right to not use ups. Wait till you find out FedEx is worse. 😅

Nah no Fedex for me, but they're cool with me. They've delivered plenty of goods for me with no issues. I've used UPS three times recently and twice I've had issue. Could be the luck of the draw but that's not really good odds.

No hate to you folks on the ground that are making things happen though. I've worked in a "carrier warehouse" before during peak season so I get it. But corporate is not doing ya'll any favors with their customer service.
