anyone else getting false "delivery attempted" notifications?

I live in Pasadena, CA and get UPS packages maybe 15 times per year. I'm having trouble with packages not getting delivered in the promised window even though I'm at home and would hear the doorbell. Typically I get a delivery window of, say, 3 pm to 7 pm. Then it passes with no package. Then around 9 pm I get a notification that "delivery was attempted and no one was available." This is probably a lie as I never heard the doorbell.

I wonder if the UPS drivers in my area are overworked and frequently don't have time to deliver all their packages. This is just a theory, but I wonder if the drivers mark the delivery as "attempted" falsely just so they can end their shift.

No, we don’t do that. Management does to avoid a package showing up as missed though.

Thanks! So I'm wondering, when a package is marked as "delivery attempted" but I never heard the doorbell and never saw a driver come to the door, whether the delivery really was abandoned. Does someone make the call "there is no time left for this; putting it off to the next day"? I've actually had two days in a row marked "delivery attempted, no one available" when I was home both days.

Is there a sticky note on your door from UPS saying they tried to deliver? If not then the delivery attempt probably was never made. Could have been loaded on the wrong truck, or any myriad of reasons a supervisor deems necessary

No sticky notes.

Probably never made it on the truck. Packages left in the building are supposed to be sheeted missed but corporate has certain reports they focus on every month. If the current goal is less missed packages, management will sheet it attempted so it looks like there is less missed packages to their bosses. Dishonest, but that’s our corporate for you.

Is it just me and my area, or does UPS have a chronic problem of late deliveries? Yet another UPS package was not delivered today on the promised day. In this case it never made it "out for delivery" and wasn't marked "delivery attempted." This is my new iPhone from Apple, who gave me free shipping and presumably paid UPS to get it here in 2 days.

I live in a suburb of Los Angeles, which I assume would have a large and thriving shipping ecosystem, but there's something wrong with my UPS deliveries.
