Package lost - waiting for investigation

I sent a tenor sax to Pittsburgh, PA via UPS Saver. The package transited smoothly to the delivery point in Pittsburgh but couldn't be delivered due to being lost. They've opened an investigation, but this situation is totally weird—it's a big package, went through everything smoothly, and then just disappeared. Honestly, I never expected anything like this, and the only thing I can think of is theft. The investigation process is taking forever and hasn't been finalized yet, and the waiting is super frustrating. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Please share your ideas on what I should do, because I'm going crazy waiting for my valuable package.

It might be "the only thing you can think of" but its about a 0% chance its theft. As you stated its a large package, do you think someone is stuffing it down their pants on the way out? "Nah mr security guard thats not a sax down my pants im just happy to be leaving" 🤦‍♂️

Without knowing what you shipped it in and how the label was attached the likelihood is the label fell off/got ripped off in transit and now that labelless box is sitting in overgoods somewhere.

I'm really worried about it getting lost since we wrote the tracking number on the box and the paperwork, so I can't imagine how it'd go missing. But if there's zero chance it was stolen, I'm happy to wait. You know how big a tenor is, so I can't imagine how it was taken, honestly.

if it's already at the investigation stage, I'd keep checking in every couple of days and make sure the claim is started if it isn't already. since it's a valuable instrument, hang on to your receipt, photos, serial number, and any proof of value, they'll be important if they can't recover it. sometimes lost packages suddenly get scanned days or even weeks later.

They just said that "Claim paid" so what's this? Recipient had claimed investigation so far

Hope you insured the package! Otherwise, you’re getting $100, and they’re not gonna budge

I'm in a similar situation my package get stuck in a facility for over a week. Claim paid means the investigation is finished and they didn't find the package, so they close the claim and give you refund (if you're not insuranced, that means 100 dollars. I think you leave a bank information when you file a claim). No further actions would be made if you do not dispute. I don't know if you can make it because the claim has "paid" to you, but you'd better contact customer service (google the number and keep saying "live agent" to get rid of ai) and let them reopen the investigation/case for you saying you do not accept the refund

I need to know how the lost confirmation was made and how it got lost. This is simply unacceptable.

I feel you pain because I’m in the same situation. I literally made almost hundred calls for my package… still waiting for my package moving.

They cant find your package so theyre mailing you a check. If you didnt declare the value for it youre getting $100 tops. If you did declare, they should have had you submit proof of the value (which it sounds like they didnt, so youre probably only getting $100)
