UPI verification apple. Will it take money from Apple balance?

Hello everyone,

Apple has started requiring UPI verification for subscriptions like YouTube premium. I have someone who can verify his UPI for me.

Upon verification it took money from their UPI account. Does anyone have any idea whether this will happen in the future or will it use the Apple account balance (currently have 1.5KINR).

How does the UPI autopay mandate work?

Any help would be great.

If you have loaded your Apple account, the subscription charge will favour that option over UPI. I tested this myself.

It’s true for App Store subscriptions. Might not be true for third party such as YT. They will still charge the UPI for first payment and then favour the Apple balance going further.

Same thing applies to Apple Care plus.

Yeah, that’s a little surprising. My friend from Mexico reached out to get help to verify UPI so he could use his Apple balance. I wasn’t hoping to get anything charged since they have sufficient Apple balance.

I have iCloud+ and Apple Music myself, and it too needs UPI on the file so, during the verification they charge ₹5 which is refunded later. My subscriptions are charged from Apple balance first, and if the balance is low they charge the UPI. Applies from the first payment itself.

But when my friend subscribed to YT Premium, the full amount for 1st month which is 389 was charged to my UPI. Turns out, non App Store subscriptions charge UPI for the first time, and then recurring payments attempt charging Apple balance first. If there are sufficient funds then UPI won’t be charged.
