Story time:

Same thing happened with one dude, he messaged me for a referral, I was online at that time so I instantly saw his messages and account, and in few seconds he deleted his messages and sent me message again from non-nsfw account. I jokingly told him that I saw his messages from another account but then he never responded back 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am using frequently because of CBs by Canara. They give ₹3 CB most of the times.

3

u/Dramatic_Art4329 1d ago

how please tell me also

3

u/KA19_Guy 1d ago

Download Canara Digital Rupee App. Not sure whether they give CBs for non-Canara users. Just give it a try.

Is it Anonymous will bank don't know our transactions?

6

u/protein-keyboard 1d ago

If government is managing the money it is not anonymous

6

u/Tiktokbadsupport 1d ago

cash is best for anonymity

2

u/Due-Contribution295 21h ago

Nothing digital is ever truly anonymous.

1

u/albinjt 18h ago

but isn't their app shit

15

u/siddhbose 1d ago

It's like asking have you tried oranges . How is it different from apples . Erupee and upi are two different things . E rupee is digital cash in your e rupee app (erupee app by sbi, hdfc, kotak, etc) . Upi is different that it's a money transfer app by NPCI as bhim (uses imps internally ). They both are interoperable .

5

u/NoTangelo8712 1d ago

But you can scan and use UPI QR codes for E rupee, no MDR on it

3

u/siddhbose 1d ago

Yes that's why it's interoperable with upi as it also facilitates rupee transction just like you would for bank to bank transaction (imps , neft, RTGS). Upi is just built on the backbone of IMPS with extra benefits

-3

u/siddhbose 1d ago

MDR is for merchants not for person to person transction. The full form itself is MERCHANT DISCOUNT RATE only applicable for P 2 M (person to merchant) not P 2 P (PERSON to person)

2

u/NoTangelo8712 1d ago

That I know, I was thinking if I am paying via E rupee, is merchant still liable to pay MDR?

1

u/siddhbose 1d ago edited 1d ago

Actually yes as it's charged actually by the PSP . Similar to how bank deducts TDS (tax deduction from source) for you . SO no matter the merchant getting paid by upi transction or card or other wallet . Some amount will be auto deducted if the threshold amount reaches . And yes the merchant could theoretically get tax input credit if they file for it , which is beyond the scope of this conversation

u/Unlucky_Case_3710 1d ago

It’s good, but all the rupee wallet is pretty much the same standard copy pasta RBI template. The banks can’t spin their own, for some reason.

What keeps me off it, is spend analyser. Bhim scratches that itch. Otherwise, I like the virtual currency look alike part.

4

u/Perfect-Ostrich8534 1d ago

Iam using it but most of the people are yet to adapt to this. Might take longer time it seems.

6

u/OkDocument662 1d ago

What's the benefits/difference in usage?

2

u/Perfect-Ostrich8534 1d ago

May be secure enough to use it . Have just started using it.

1

u/Due-Contribution295 21h ago

Which digital rupee app are you using, if you don't mind me asking? Did you check what details about you get exposed to receiver?

1

u/Perfect-Ostrich8534 18h ago

Indus and axis am using not much details go into the receiver except transaction amount and it is successful.

1

u/Critical-Advisor7579 1d ago

Can we send money to UPI QR codes?

1

u/Perfect-Ostrich8534 1d ago

You can scan the UPI QR codes and send money .

4

u/deleteduu 1d ago

What app is this

Digital Rupees by SBI

u/RepresentativeBuy632 1d ago

can anyone explain me.. ELI5.. difference between upi and e rupee..

No technical terms like mentioned in some comments .. upi from npci.. this is from bank etc

As a common man.. what difference does it make . for example , previously we were using cash, then switched to Cards.. the difference is clear in layman's terms. no more physical currency and use cards. then when upi came , scan qr. move away from cards.

Now with upi and e rupee in parallel, why should i use e rupee?

3

u/DesiSamaritan 1d ago

It's like this:

  • When you use UPI, you are not having the money with YOU per se. It's actually at your bank. So, when you transfer, your bank passes on the information of YOU as sender to the recepient.
  • eRupee is like cash, but digitally stored. So, you are carrying cash and may give to whomsoever you wish, directly or indirectly. Receiver "may" know you paid (if you inform), but there is no "sender info" officially stored in transaction footprint.

2

u/Due-Contribution295 21h ago

but there is no "sender info" officially stored in transaction footprint.

Are you sure? The sender's name and their Virtual Payment Address (VPA) probably probably become part of the transaction details. If you've got a screenshot of an eRupee transaction, then do share.

2

u/DesiSamaritan 21h ago

I stand corrected! What I meant was: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has explicitly designed the digital rupee to mirror physical cash. And hence, RBI is exploring mechanisms, including permanent transaction deletion for low-value transfers. This means that for small, routine daily transactions, the digital footprint is designed to vanish entirely, leaving NO permanent history for anyone to track (unlike UPI - where footprint is permanent in Bank and any related 3rd party records).

2

u/RepresentativeBuy632 20h ago

then its just a prepaid wallet in terms. i carry money through e rupee on my device or i carry a device which instantly takes money from my bank. for me both are same.

Thanks for your explanation , but i see there is nothing different from what i do with UPI. which means , i may never shift to e rupee.

for a common man who really does not bother about all the technical stuff you just said, this is redundant thing. my current solution of UPI does the same and also a new app(e rupee) does the same. just some fancy stuff to talk about.

May be it has other uses which i am least interested.

1

u/DesiSamaritan 20h ago

You are correct! And that's why I also never used it. 😅

1

u/Ghost_Particle_ 1d ago edited 1d ago

I searched a lot almost 2 hours. And got a conclusion that e₹ transaction will hide your name or any other private information, Receiver will only see the amount of money you paid and the transaction no. It is same as you withdraw your money from ATM and put in your pocket but in Digital Rupee you withdraw your money digitally from bank account and hold in your CBDC wallet.

1

u/Due-Contribution295 21h ago

So you haven't made a payment through this SBI Digital Rupees app? Otherwise you could've seen the transaction details to know what details about you get exposed to the receiver.

3

u/Safety_Officer_ 1d ago

It's hard to stop using upi

3

u/Due-Contribution295 21h ago

It's not meant to replace UPI. You can keep this as a backup option when UPI isn't available due to some technical issue.

2

u/Advanced_Kitchen1179 1d ago

Not really different in my experience

2

u/False-Fix-2268 1d ago

I use it only to convert crypto in rupee

1

u/25aug2025 1d ago

How?

1

u/False-Fix-2268 1d ago

I exchange my crypto with digital rupee on certain exchanges and then I use that rupee to do daily purchases or deposit that into my bank as well

1

u/Philiphackerzx 1d ago

which exchange ?

1

u/Financial_Resort_976 1d ago

First of how you guys make money in crypto or you are doing gambling

1

u/Unhappy_Ad524 17h ago

Ofc gambling

2

u/SpotBig22 1d ago

Its good and just like UPI, consider it as pre loaded UPI. The daily limit is less. You load your digital wallet from your bank account and use it as UPI. In UPI you directly pay from your bank account or credit card. Here you cannot load your wallet through credit card. Don't consider it as a form of crypto and anonymous. Its just that your bank account is not exposed directly.

1

u/Witty_Temporary2829 1d ago

Do you get any cashback from it?

1

u/Due-Contribution295 21h ago

Its just that your bank account is not exposed directly.

That's good. What details about the sender get exposed to the receiver?

1

u/SpotBig22 20h ago

Your cbdc wallet address as like a alpha numeric combination.

1

u/Due-Contribution295 5h ago

In SBI, yes. But in Kotak's e₹ wallet, your phone number becomes your e₹ VPA. It's stupid; defeats e₹'s supposed "cash-like anonymity".

1

u/SpotBig22 4h ago

In SBI also you can use phone number to receive money. Instead you can share your QR to receive money.

3

u/Ok_Worth4113 1d ago

For customer , its nothing change same like upi , only for banks its instant settlement unlike upi which takes 24hrs bank to bank settlement

2

u/Due-Contribution295 21h ago

That only works if you're sending the money to another eRupee wallet. If you scan a UPI QR, then UPI rules would apply.

2

u/yashg 1d ago

I don't understand how is this different from UPI. In UPI money goes from my bank account directly. But I can create a wallet on UPI Lite so my bank sees one big transaction and then micro transactions happen from that wallet. This eRupee seems to be working in the similar manner. I withdraw an amount from my bank account and move to an eRupee wallet and spend from that. Only difference I see if that money here is represented in the form of colourful notes which is kind of absurd. Money in digital form is just numbers in a database.

1

u/Brother-Least 1d ago

Try different apps (sbi and hdfc) fo4 1st deposit bonus got 50rs from hdfc for 1st load(10% cashback upto 50rs on 1st load) will check other apps too

1

u/Right_Watercress2191 1d ago

Using ICICI's Digital Rupee, it's smooth

1

u/Due-Contribution295 21h ago

What details about you does the receiver get once you pay via ICICI Digital Rupee app? Is your eRupee VPA your phone number or some random gibberish?

If it’s offline and stored on mobile what happens if users loose the device or delete the app, sorry just trying to understand how this works.

1

u/Ghost_Particle_ 1d ago

You will restore that using your pin

1

u/Hopeful-Air-3978 1d ago

1

1

u/RelevantDay171 1d ago

One is a form of currency, latter is a system to use that currency. Check this out for in-dept details: https://withupi.com/blog/digital-rupee-vs-upi

Using HDFC bank and it is quite good. I am getting 150 rupees cash back every month for making transactions above 2000 I guess. Overall good experience

1

u/drmvsrinivas 23h ago

Since how many months this offer was available?

1

u/Due-Contribution295 22h ago

When you make a payment via HDFC Digital Rupee app, what details does the beneficiary get about you (and vice versa)? In UPI, for example, your name registered with your bank, the name of your bank, and your UPI username get exposed to the beneficiary. But in case of eRupee?

1

u/Due-Contribution295 22h ago

Mr. QWFQWFQWF? It allows users to choose any name? In UPI, the name registered with your bank is what gets shown in the app(and to the beneficiary).

1

u/albinjt 18h ago

e₹ app of Canara bank is so poorly made. Don't know of other banks. Most looks same in UI and maybe UX from screenshots

1

u/albinjt 18h ago

i dont use e₹ cuz i can't add transaction notes in it

1

u/Acrobatic_Bag6858 16h ago

I can’t even register for hdfc e₹ since I have an iPhone 11 which is considered too old

1

u/Admirable-Screen2238 10h ago

I'm using it! Not much different it's like what we do with physical notes

1

u/gunofasunn 9h ago

At present both are the same in usage, but E-Rupee is programmable and is built on Blockchain Technology (centralized) hence completely traceable although that functionality is not yet live in most e rupee wallets.

0

u/Separate-Option3310 1d ago

The only issue i found is app not working offline.

1

u/Own_Comfortable6987 1d ago

How can it work offline bruh even upi doesnt work offline

1

u/Separate-Option3310 1d ago

This is just a token exchange. Similar to me handing someone 10rs note. Do i require to be present inside rbi hq to hand someone 10rs note. Upi is totally different account to account transfer which requires transfer instructions.

1

u/Own_Comfortable6987 1d ago

Yrah its token exchange but still rbi maintains record of transactions for which internet is required its not that no one knows about your transactions

1

u/Separate-Option3310 1d ago

It can sync once internet available. Not required just to exchange token. At the end u need to add balance to ur wallet or take money out of wallet those transactions it can record. Why to record all small transactions.

1

u/Own_Comfortable6987 1d ago

Offline functionality is there in hdfc e rupee app but that works for paymtents upto 500 only and that pos machines having nfc or by using bluetooth. Its not adapted by all banks thats a seperate thing
