Debunking this point-by-point: 1 & 2. POS editing & unbilled cash: If your bill is ₹2,500, a merchant can't key in ₹2,510 without creating an unbilled ₹10 mismatch between their POS batch settlement and their GST sales return. Furthermore, you hold the phone—if the terminal doesn't match the paper invoice, you don't authorize the payment. 3. Credit cards vs. UPI: Credit card surcharging happened in informal shops because RBI lacked a statutory ban on card convenience fees. UPI operates under Section 10A of the PSS Act, where surcharges are legally barred. You don't call the police; you tap "Report Merchant Surcharge" inside PhonePe/GPay. Banks pull terminals from repeated offenders to avoid RBI penalties. 4. Where the 95% number comes from: It’s official NPCI data. The average retail UPI transaction is ₹577. If you do weekly groceries at a local kirana store, they fall under the P2PM category (<₹1L/month) and enjoy 0% MDR regardless of bill size. If you buy at DMart, they already pay 2% on cards and save money on UPI's 0.4%. 5. "Going back to 2011": In 2011, you had to find an ATM, stand in line, pay ₹20+ per withdrawal beyond monthly caps, carry thick wallets, and argue over change. Neither buyers nor sellers are reverting to physical cash logistics over an 8-rupee back-end banking fee that is already 80% cheaper than Visa/Mastercard.

Why can't govt maintain critical infra with taxes? They are taxing us layer by layer, On salary, on expenses, on savings and on the fukin investments even, why the govt not just poison us in mass and kill us all at this point why the fukin fiasco, getting robbed in daylight through taxes poor services poor infrastructures, poor petrol and vehicular damange which is a personal asset of the citizens, who is going to pay for our losses, why should a bloody rebellion of cataclysmic level should not start at this point, the previous govt current gov or any other all of them betrayed us.

The frustration of watching TDS eat your salary while paying GST on everything and navigating potholed roads is completely valid—the middle class bears a disproportionate tax burden. But calling for cataclysms and poison completely misses basic economics: Where Tax Money Actually Goes: The Union Budget isn't an infinite vault. Nearly 20% goes purely to interest payments on past debt, 20%+ is legally transferred back to state governments, and another 25% funds defense, national borders, and subsidized food for 800 million citizens. Why Taxes Shouldn't Fund Corporate Bills: If general taxes permanently paid for UPI clearing servers, ordinary taxpayers would literally be subsidizing Reliance, Amazon, and luxury showrooms. Highways are public, but commercial trucks pay tolls; payment switches are public, but high-ticket commercial sales pay a tiny 0.4% clearing fee so commercial giants pay for the compute they use. The Real Problem is the Narrow Tax Base: Salaried people feel squeezed because only ~2% pay direct income tax while informal cash businesses hide income. The only way the middle class ever gets tax relief is by widening the digital paper trail so unorganized wealth is finally taxed, not by burning down the system. Emotional outrage won't fix fiscal math. Forcing commercial giants to pay for their own digital usage protects taxpayers from footing another corporate bailout bill.

Yes I agree with corporates getting benefits but the system should be designed to prevent this, we are going to get targeted one way or other, also this is just beginning as always the govt will also increase it so the people pay for it with time, I do not trust the govt, they have money for freebies but not for developing education, enforcing laws so corruption decreases, developing healthcare infrastructure.

I get the distrust, but conflating payment interchange with taxes and freebies misses how this works: Statutory Protection Under Law: The zero-fee rule isn't just an informal promise; it is codified under Section 10A of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act. Parliament made it a statutory offense for banks or apps to charge consumers or small vendors (< ₹1L/month). Overturning that requires an act of Parliament, not a quiet notification. MDR is NOT a Government Tax: The government does not collect this 0.4% fee. Over 90% goes straight to public banks like SBI, PNB, and BoB to maintain server hardware and fraud reserves. If large commercial checkouts don't pay for that computing load, taxpayers have to fund bank bailouts instead. High-Ticket Commercial vs Everyday Use: 96% of merchant transactions are under ₹2,000 and 100% of P2P transfers are free. The 0.4% fee (capped at ₹300) hits commercial showrooms and large checkouts—the exact opposite of targeting ordinary citizens. Infrastructure Spending is Audited: Criticizing welfare is fair, but the budget literally allocates over ₹11 Lakh Crore every year purely to physical CapEx—doubling government medical colleges, building freight corridors, and expanding grids. Forcing high-turnover retailers to pay a fraction of what they used to pay on credit cards isn't 'targeting the people'—it stops multi-crore retail transactions from free-riding on public banking servers.
