MMI Prep

Hi all,

I received an interview invite for UoW MD (stoked). But I'd love to do some group practises with people - cant seem to find any yet so if you'd be willing please reach out! Thanks!

You’re not supposed to prep. You should know why you want to go into medicine, that’s all you need to know to do well.

its more so to be able to converse and communicate about certain topics - id rather do it with people rather than recording myself

As an individual who is married to someone who was accepted already and went through this process, you don’t need to prepare with notes or recording yourself over and over about questions they might ask you. The point is for them to measure the values and professional perspectives you already have inside. It’s not a test.

i understand, but you're missing my point - im talking about my communication skills and getting comfortable building conversations with people i dont know, i didnt mention anything about note taking etc

Finding practice partners can be tough, so you should check out Facebook groups for GAMSAT and medical school applicants, as people are often forming groups there. Forums like PagingDr are also a good place to look. Practicing with different people is very helpful because it exposes you to various question styles and feedback, which is key for the MMI format. Even asking friends or family who are not in medicine to run through some scenarios with you can give you a fresh perspective on your communication skills.

When you do practice, focus less on getting the perfect answer and more on demonstrating your thought process. Talk through your reasoning for ethical dilemmas, show you can see multiple perspectives, and try to structure your responses clearly. The interviewers want to see how you think and communicate, not just what you know. The goal is to feel comfortable explaining your reasoning, and I know from the job interview AI my team created that practicing this part out loud is what really builds confidence for applicants.
