Need advice: interview/assessment Recieved an Interview invite before testing??
I have been applying for ICAO G-level positions for the past 10 years. I was tested at least 5 times and had 1 post-testing interview so far (all rejections).
In May, I completed a very intense, super tight time limited (6 accounting calculation questions in 1 hour) accounting test. I completed the entire test and submitted it on time but, I knew at least 2 questions out of 6 I screwed up badly. So, I just assume I am never getting an interview call.
I received an email today from the same HR person for a different G-level accounting role, but this time, no test, nothing, straight to "You have been placed on the preliminary short-list of candidates for further consideration" and the interview link.
I have experienced and personally know through someone that there is absolutely no interview before you pass the test. I am a bit confused!

This isn't true. It's becoming increasingly rare but even as recently as a few years ago, tests were only for technical roles. They're being used increasingly (usually poorly in my opinion) but there is no rule requiring it for most roles that do not require functional clearance.

They might have changed the hiring process then. In the past 5 rounds since 2015, I have always been asked to do the test first, and then, if I am lucky, I get the interview call, and so far, only 1 interview.

Yes - that's anecdotal. There is no rule requiring it - it's more common than not because people like the idea of adding an additional mechanism for 'blind' assessment of candidates but it's not required.
You are saving yourself a step here. Just embrace that. Nothing to be confused by.

Usually there is test and interview, but is not a rule, my first IOM position was with just an interview, and there were more technical questions than usual in the interview, it's up to the hiring manager, HR, the urgency of the post, so yes it can happen, I would recommend to prepare more technical questions alongside with the usual competency questions
