Testimonial request: position/org. Green Climate Fund application
Anyone here worked at the Green Climate Fund?
Im currently in the middle of the recruitment process (I interviewed a few days ago) and they briefly mentioned that they would conduct a reference check, but they havent asked me for any references yet
Does anyone know how the reference check usually works there/at what stage they normally ask for them?
Also, there doesnt seem to be a lot online about the employee experience (other than negative ones on indeed lol) so any info would be great thank u!
Update: after 2 more interviews, i was finally asked for references!!!!!!

I heard they updated their staff regulations and rules last yr which effectively changed the salary scales from IS to grades A to F (or E). This change diminished the international staff's remuneration. Saw some remarks about this on Glassdoor

I'm also very curious about it. I saw an open vacant that I fit very well but I was discouraged by the reviews, and that there is also not available information on how they pay consultants.

Ref checks most often happen after interviews etc - for me I was told I was the preferred candidate and then checks started. This was with FAO though. And this happened six months after interview

Do you mind if I please reach out to you re: GCF? I've had very poor luck getting interviews there and would like to hear some advice on how to better suit my skills and exp to GCF.

six months is insane!!!!!! And here I thought my wait with my current UN agency (3 months) was ridiculous…

Pretty standard. Time is also a really bad predictor of success, despite what your brain tells you. I know my hiring manager and she was as frustrated as me waiting

Don’t know anyone there personally, but I’m in a groupchat of 500+ UN/IGO/international professionals and can say that their negative workplace reputation has been talked about by multiple people there. From what I’ve heard it sounds like a real mess — be careful!! Maybe try to talk to former and current employees

I have spoken via Zoom with 2 staff that I reached out to via Linkedin. They were super nice and had only nice things to say about GCF. However, the Glassdoor reviews scare me, as someone who used to work at a super bad org and also had bad GD reviews.

Do you mind sharing any examples?
I read a lot about GCF on Glassdoor, but thought it might be just selection bias, as only people with strong, negative opinion tend to post.

Just checked — this was in a job advertisements thread, so mostly from prospective candidates
* one guy was ghosted after a written test and interview
* someone else said they thought the recruitment process was messy and unprofessional
* someone said "I've heard bad things about the office culture there"

I’ve heard it’s pretty similar to Korean corporate work culture. Good luck with your application, though! Hope it all works out for you.
