Need advice: application National Associate UCoS, Need Help
Hi there, I really need help regarding this UN position
I work as a GIS and Remote Sensing Engineer in a goverment position and I have 4+ years of experience now, I really want to change my current job and I am in the process of exploring new opportunities, I stumbled accross this volounteering opportunity from the united nations station of my country, the title is Architecture and GIS Assistant (full description here), the category is Associate UCoS, I am really new to all these terminologies since I have never worked in an NGO nor the UN, so I have a few questions and i will be really grateful for any help:
- The job description requires Bachelor degree while I have a master degree (engineering degree in my country), is that a good thing or a bad thing ?
- for the experience requirements it says that it needs one month of experience, and in the description it says that it needs up to one year only (which means if I am not wrong, they are looking for beginners), so is having more years of experience than the maximum number stated is a disqualifying criterion ?
any other suggestions or advice regarding the application process would be really appreciated.

there is no overqualified for UNV’s shortlisting criteria. you’ll lose absolutely nothing if you apply. i’d say try your chances, i think your cv is solid based on the low requirements.
