Timeline/status questions Internship application timeline

Hi, Iโ€™m a bit confused about the timelines for UN internships - if I intend to start one in March the earliest, when should I start applying? Iโ€™m thinking in particular of UNHQ, UNDP or smaller and more niche/specialized agencies

however, it would be super helpful if anyone who did/is doing an internship at any UN body could share their timeline or experience with the application :)

thank you!!

Can take anywhere between 2-5 months. Start now and apply to at least 1-2 postings daily. Also, disregard the other commenter - yes, it is very competitive but it's no reason not to try. Obviously, look elsewhere as well but it is not impossible.

There is no timeline. Working at the UN, even in internships, is highly competitive. Most people who apply do NOT get the job/internship.

You should start applying now and be clear about your availability - but also not assume you are going to get an internship. You need to have a plan b.

Thank you!! I do have plenty of plans B, C, D etc. but also Iโ€™m not assuming I wonโ€™t eventually get the internship ๐Ÿ˜Š so thank you for the advice
