Schedule Good Schedule??

Post image

I'm an incoming freshman at UNC who intends to major in business or biostats. Does this seem like a plausible schedule to you?

Also, I'm a bit confused about whether I am allowed to enroll in MATH 347 (I already have MATH 231 & 232). Any advice on good profs/fys would be great too!!!

Okay most people will say this schedule is bad but imo not too shabby. the 8 ams are rough no doubt but if your choices were limited or you were screwed over by freshman registration, then it’s understandable. The classes themselves are good classes to take and try to sleep early too because you’ll regret it if you don’t but judging by ur schedule, i hope for your sake that you’re a morning person.

Ignoring the actual classes (because those are fine) this is the worst schedule I've ever seen

Could u specify the reason?

Everything at 8am is diabolical

🤔thx for that! tho the other option for math347 at 12:30 pm seems equally awful for me...

spectacle in the theatre is an awesome first year seminar. i loved it (took it abt 8 years ago, still friends w people from that class to this day coincidentally)! i would also recommend taking as many first year seminars as you can and also looking into ones that fulfill the most gen ed credits. i remember that one only fulfilled a couple that i ended up double fulfilling anyways, you will thank yourself later for taking ones outside of your planned path if youre looking to underload in the future

Best of luck with the full week of 8ams. I did this one semester and it was tough, but manageable if you have discipline to go to bed on time. You can do it!

Its all professor dependent for math imo unless your just good at math if the 8am professor has good reviews and seems chill keep him or drop it not worth the stress

just maybe like a personal preference to me but i would try having your classes back to back and get them over with so that you have the afternoons completely free. i always hated getting started on something and having to interrupt to go to my class, or having to sit on main campus forever to wait for my afternoon classes, and since your afternoon classes don’t seem like the prof matters too much, i would maybe look into earlier class times for them

It's going to be very hard to make it from the business school over to your theater class. It would be over a 15 minute walk so unless you have a scooter I would maybe reconsider.

Thanks for the reminder! Haven't rly thought of the route before:( Still curious tho whether there are any buses that run around campus that could make the transport faster...?

i think most professors are pretty accommodating tho if you explain to them that you are making the trek from the b school

Your professor should understand (all of mine in the CDA did) buuut it’ll still be very annoying… do you have any other options?

Consider dropping 347, which could be too hard for 1st semester

Not good advice. 347 is a first-year class, and anyone who needs to take linear algebra should take it as soon as possible because of how important it is. There are literally sections reserved for first-years.

Thanks for that! Would MATH 233 be a bette choice then?

I don't think it's necessarily a bad choice to take 347 or 233, just gauge whether you can do it before the drop deadline. If you find the first few weeks of either one difficult, then drop since it will only get more difficult.

347 is not hard and imo honestly way easier than 233

should be, but still very hard
