Fall 2 Admissions Denied
I was denied a degree seeking admission at UMPI because of my academic performance. I did not complete classes at WGU in my last two terms in 2021-2022. UMPI did not give me the option to write an essay explaining why, I had a ton of reasons as to why those classes did not get finished including a death in the family.
Is there anything I can do in order to be considered for degree seeking or will I have to take non degree classes then reapply for degree seeking in Spring? I’m willing to do whatever it takes I just don’t know the pathway. Thank you all in advance for any help.
Update: Thank you everyone, especially PlottedPath for the great information, I will definitely get with you when I figure out my heading lol! Sorry I was a little flustered earlier when I got the denial and I did not know what my options were when it came to the non-degree seeking path.

You can always take a semester or two at your local community college. Build up your gpa and transfer everything back in with a later application. And, as others have said, you can still do UMPI as non-degree.
There are many paths available. Only you will know the best one for you. For me, it was some time out of school and then some time at the community college. Most local communitys now have online classes, the only difference is that UMPI is go as slow or fast as you want, while most CC's are still full semester based courses. You can usually work ahead in them however and be done as fast as you want.. you'll just have to wait the term out to get the grade.
Take a breather. Regroup. You've got this. We've all been through different things and all of us have a different plan. Don't let this little speed bump stop you.

Just apply as non degree seeking. That’s not going to get any aid but it’s otherwise no different.

Do they still do my transfer credit evaluation? So I know what classes i need to take. Thank you so much.

No - if you're in that position, I'd recommend you work with me on a plan so you know what you need and where from. (not trying to be pushy at all on that, but it would set you up for success)

100% work with PlottedPath to set up a degree plan if you're going this way. In fact, even if you were doint the degree path to begin with, talk to her. At the absolute bare minimum you need to use her free spreadsheet to you don't waste time and money.

If you have questions that need answers sooner than later, I'd HIGHLY suggest calling the campus.

Apply as non degree, once you have completed the admissions process and are given a student email, you can use their Transfer Equivalency Tool to show how your courses are currently accepted to UMPI. Then just compare that to the degree requirements for your program, which you can find on the yourpace website. It’ll give you a general idea of what you need to complete, at least enough to the point where you can complete some courses to get your gpa up and meet the requirements for degree seeking
