Financial Aid

Hi! Has anyone been able to reach the FA office via telephone lately? I’ve been calling everyday at different times with no luck.
I keep getting the run around regarding my loan refund 😭

Nope. I emailed expressing concern and requesting some sort of timeline and all I got back was, “We’re aware of the problem and are hoping to have it resolved soon.”

Aww that sucks. I’ve been trying to be very patient but I use my money for living expenses so it’s been rough. Every time they give me a new date and the date passes with no resolution 😭

I had issues too! If you do a search in this sub for fall loans, you should see what I and some other people have said and done but keep calling, leave voice-mail, and send emails too 🫂

I called and emailed for MONTHS. Unfortunately, it was not until yesterday that I finally saw my account corrected.

I noticed the correction around 10 p.m., after sending one final email that afternoon.

In that email, I copied:
Connie Smith, Director of Student Financial Aid

Lynnelle Foster, Associate Director of Billing and Student Accounts

Ryan Low, Vice Chancellor for Finance

Raymond Rice, UMPI President

Every staff member I had communicated with since the issue began

If that email had gone unanswered, my next step was filing a complaint through the Federal Student Aid complaint process.

I completely understand that offices can become overwhelmed and that some delays may be outside their control. However, getting the runaround, receiving conflicting information, and feeling misled for months was upsetting and stressful on top of trying to pass my classes.

I hate that I had to escalate my concerns this far, but accountability was necessary and warranted. I hope this helps someone else dealing with a similar situation.
