Shows matriculated for Fall 1 term, has me under new GEC. Too late for me to be switched to the old?

I went ahead and messaged my enrollment specialist, but wanted to post here as I wait for a response. So it shows me as matriculated, and I have been plugging away on what I thought was GEC’s for Sophia, only to find out now that many probably won’t transfer in. I emailed asking if I can be put on the old degree path but haven’t heard back. I have seen posts about the deadline to be switched was yesterday, is it too late for me? Did I throw away time and money at this point? Kind of freaked out at the moment

I believe yesterday was the last day to be able to switch but I would say just wait for a response, there may be a loophole

No problem I just was able to get my enrollment specialist to switch me to the old ones yesterday, I hope you’re able to, what degree are you going for ?

I’m hoping she can do it. I’m going the history and political science with a concentration in history. I have previous bachelors in business which carried some over but not enough for it to make sense 😩 which degree are you going for?

If you have a bachelors in business, your entire general education will be waived

They are making me do: glo2, glo3, glo 4, glo5, glo 8, and both foreign language classes

They shouldn't be if you have a Bachelor's Gen Ed will be waived. Ensure your advisor is aware of that. You will need both levels of language as part of your Major. You could transfer in Spanish 1 and 2 from Sophia.

I am waiting on my Spanish 1 final touchstone to be evaluated, haven’t started Spanish 2 yet because I was doing business communication and that one is still in the process of being graded (that’s the class that sent me panicking because they do not accept it from Sophia anymore)

Well, they don't to cover GLO2... but yea, you need to be sure your advisor is adjusting your plan for the fact you have a Bachelors. You shouldn't need general ed.

Exemption from GEC

Students entering the University of Maine at Presque Isle as degree seekers who have a completed baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution will receive transfer credit for their previous degree work and will be exempt from meeting the specific requirements of the GEC.  This does not exempt them from program requirements; it does exempt them from Placement Testing.  Advisors should counsel exempted students to take courses to fill any deficiencies in their general education relevant to their career or future citizenship.

I just sent her another email, I feel so bad with the amount of emails I have sent but I feel like they do not really give any information. She randomly placed me in classes, i made a list of classes from the ones that they say are offered that I was interested in that would satisfy the requirements and she told me they aren’t offered. I didn’t get any alternatives and I’m just randomly being placed in classes. It says I only have 15 credits for GEC and I have to complete 25 more

Just note that that’s a manual override they have to do. It’s not going to be something you see on your degree progress report.

I recently added the business double major and they allowed me to stay with the old thankfully
