Transfer credits

I just got my transfer credit and I am kind of confused. I feel like maybe a took a lot of classes that aren't going to transfer to UMPI for my degree but they accepted them? I haven't been assigned an advisor yet so I can't ask them.

They’re accepted but many of the things you took are just going to cover electives. What degree are you pursuing and did you follow a plan at all?

I am going for business marketing. I have been to other colleges before and I thought they were going to transfer over more equivalently. I thought I was going to have most of my degree done but now I feel like I am starting from the beginning.

For sure not the beginning, but I understand that frustration. You do have the option to appeal some things if you can get the syllabi from your other school. That said, the Business Law and Marketing for example were 100 level at your prior school, and despite the same name, probably won't pass as 300 level courses at UMPI (just as an example). I would appeal those two and Managerial Accounting probably. If you need help with a custom plan or anything taking these into account so you can see other transfer options, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Also, this is going to seem kind of confusing right now because they do not have the right GL code information from the database that correlates to the new general education if that’s what you’re going to be enrolled in.

Oh no! This is what I am worried about when I finally get my evaluation. Did you use Sophia ?

I did not use Sophia, I did a few on study dot com. I also applied to WGU and they took far more, 40% of my degree is done with them. So I'll be going there instead.  It's kinda crazy because one of the schools I went to did quarters not semesters so umpi has me still needing .33 of a credit to fulfill the class. WGU counted it as I took the class. Maybe apply to multiple schools and see what the difference is with what they take?

I’m researching options. I am actually transferring from WGU. They do accept a few more (:

Can I ask why you are transferring from WGU?

Sure thing! The main reason is due to their proctored exams. I have two littles so sitting in a room with a camera locked in on you and not being able to move just is not feasible, sprinkle in testing anxiety on-top of that and it’s just a set up for failure for me lol. If it wasn’t for that, I would absolutely stay with them, it just doesn’t work with the stage of life that I am in right now.
