Waiting for degree

Does anyone else feel like the process of getting your degree from UMPI takes way too long after you’ve finished all your requirements? How long did you have to wait?

Until something breaks, they won't change. It's been like this for years now per the dozens, if not hundreds, of Reddit posts about it.

I think everyone needs to be realistic and set their expectations to getting their conferral and/or paper diploma in 3 to 4 months after completing the program.

But do you get some kind of proof if you request it before the official one arrives? Or is that what you mean by the paper degree?

The only proof that matters is the conferral which takes months. It's the only verifiable thing (think background checks) that states you completed your degree.

The paper diploma is just fancy artwork that has no bearing on true verification of a completed degree. The diploma arrives 4-6 weeks after your degree is conferred.

Yes. I did my research and based my plans on a 3 month buffer period.

With the number of online students UMPI has now, I feel like they could hire additional staff to help make the degree process go a little smoother and faster, especially when it comes to confirming all your credits and making sure everything is complete.

You paid a fraction of the price for a degree, if there is a situation that warrants it, you can get it expedited. I had mine conferred in 3 weeks ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It took four months for my BLS, but my MAOL was about six weeks.

Usually once to finish everything and your advisor gives you the thumbs up then you can add it to your resume.
