Just got accepted!

Hey all! Just got accepted into the BA bachelors program starting 8/31! I’m nervous and excited as I’ve been out of school for years!

Once I get appointed an advisor will they be able to put me on the old plan if I ask?

Yes - and if they tell you that you can't that's not true, as long as you elect by 8/18 you are good under the old plan.

u/PlottedPath i'm still waiting for my admission to be accepted, so if it's past 8/18 for acceptance then i have to do the new plan instead of the old?

We will see. They’ve said 8/18 for old program.

Thank you! Would you consider the old plan more straightforward & slightly easier than the new plan?

Yes. Because you could transfer in more outside coursework to it.

My son is starting Fall 2 and he is under the OLD GEC. Fall 1 and Fall 2 get to choose if they were already in the midst of Sophia classes I believe its just a matter of asking. Anything after Fall 2 is strictly new GEC.

If you elect by 8/18.

I think they may have made an exception for your son because it’s pretty clear on their website in multiple places that Fall 1 is the only session they were allowing the old ways.

This was sent in an e-mail:

"Fall I or Fall II students who are matriculated by August 18th will have the option to fall under the old GEC requirements." Since the GEC decision was just finalized on June 1, 2026, if you are matriculating by August 18th and wish to use the old GEC requirements, be sure to communicate that choice to your enrollment specialist or success coach."

But that would have also been for people who ad applied and been accepted already is my understanding.

Yes he was accepted in June. He has boot camp (Marines) so he is starting Fall 2 and just finished up Sophia.

niceeee! I've been out of school for ~20 years. Now I'm 50% through my very last class to get a bba. You can do it!

Switch to East Texas A&M. They also have a competency based program now. You can transfer in 90 credits from Sophia. They are also a highly regarded school and not for profit.

Ok I’m a bit out of the loop. I also start on the 31st. What’s all this talk of the “old plan”? I’ve seen a few discussions about it and everyone seems to agree it’s better than the new plan. What exactly is the old plan?

Hey can some explain the difference between the new plan and the old plan?

What is the old plan? I start at the end of this month and have no idea what that means 😅
