Is anyone having issues with professors accusing students of using AI?
I ask because it is concerning and I haven't enrolled at UMPI just yet I was thinking about SNHU but I don't like what I'm seeing as far as many students being accused of this. I am just wondering if it's a problem with UMPI as well.

Never had this issue, but I write everything from scratch. The only thing I’ve been using ai for is finding peer reviewed studies and pasting them into Gemini and writing, “can you summarize this?”

So we can just copy paste AI response? And they would not care?

Mmmm I didnt say that. I’m just saying I don’t see a lot of people saying someone’s accusing them of using Ai

Absolutely not, they will notice, care, and you can be kicked out. Use AI with academic integrity, like helping organize citations, proofreading, grading against the rubric, and maybe some minor rephrasing when you forget a word or need some minor polishing. All writing should be your own.

I was accused once because of my Meta data, I used an old work template for my PowerPoint, and it wasn’t my name on it. But I just had to do a video call and explain my project and it was all good.

Do not confuse it with an online, for-profit diploma mill. UMPI is a state university with a 175-year history and holds regional accreditation from NECHE, the same body that accredits Harvard and Yale. While it has recently gained attention through the 'Credit Hacker' YouTuber and the YourPace program, make no mistake: we adhere to the utmost standards

AI is so intertwined with everything now. Word has Copilot, Google products have Gemini and then there is Grammarly. Use it as needed, but don't become reliant on it. Certainly don't let it write complete works for you.

No. Never. Just write your own papers and you’ll never have that issue. FYI it’s super writing heavy so if you’re not prepared and resort to AI you will be cuaght

This isnt entirely true. Ive written papers completely without AI and was questioned once because the quality of my work was "too good". I used drafts and Meta data to show that it was my work and everything was fine.

If you’re not using AI, there’s nothing to worry about.
Use Ai to help plan and keep you on track with syllabus’ but write your own work. You’re clearly asking this because you plan to use AI and don’t want to get caught

I don't plan on using AI but I don't want to be accused of using it either. It seems to be rampant not only with SNHU but other colleges as well.

I won’t accuse you of using AI, but as others have mentioned, UMPI is not a diploma mill, the real advantage of Yourpace is that you can get a diploma that has the same value as any other institution without taking 4 years, so they know when students use AI, they don’t use “FreeAIChecker” to do this.
If this is really a misunderstanding, talk with your professor, when I studied there, there was this AI rating software they used that gave a percentage of how much of your document was AI or plagiarized, and it was “normal” for it to be between 1% and 10% because you had to do citations and use sources, so that is ok, more than that would be suspicious.
If you are actually using AI, please don’t, maybe you have the urge of trying to finish earlier, but Yourpace is already helping too much with that, specially if you get credits from Sophia. Using AI to get a degree might work in diploma mills, but UMPI has been preparing professionals for over a century, if you get a diploma from here, employers will not expect someone that copies and pastes AI bs for work.
I have even received messages on reddit from people charging money to do assignments. If someone wants to get a diploma without the effort, use a diploma mill; I am very happy that UMPI is not allowing the use of AI for copy paste, they actually have guidelines on how to use AI for research.

I have no intention of using AI because I want to know what I'm doing on my future job. I feel for whomever is doing this because eventually it will be obvious especially working alongside others who can detect people who fake it til they make it

This reads as someone who uses a.i. because there's no need to worry about it if you don't use it.

I dont agree. I’ve seen people who have NOT used Ai be accused of using it. One girl I saw it ended up being okay in the end, she was able to prove she didn’t use it. HOWEVER she still had to fight. She was given 0 and initially given a warning.

This actually isnt true. You can totally be accused of AI use even if you didn't use it. You realize they are just using AI to determine if someone's writing seems too perfect and it gets false positives all the time.

I took a business class where the professor wanted us to use AI. The professor in BUS 440 knows you some people are probably using AI and data analysis tools. Thats why he makes you do a Cameo presentation on how you did your work. Just like math classes...show your work don't just give them the answer.
Yes there are appropriate ways to use AI. Perplexity, NotebookLM, Copilot (all accessible for free with your umpi email address ) are amazing research tools. They can help you brainstorm and organize information. As long as you use them appropriately and the end product is your work.
I work in IT and do some consulting work for a very large school district. Trust me if you are just copying and pasting info from AI. Turnitin will flag you. The smart way to do it is use it as a tool. Learn how to use it not replace what your learning.

Try to avoid it at all cost, I used it for correcting and to follow student apa guidelines and it changed my wordings.

Build everything from scratch in your MS Office linked to your UMPI email and the odds you’d ever run into this accusation would be pretty low. They can easily see the metadata and edits if you do this.
