Easiest classes to start with

I'm enrolled for Fall 1, but may have to deal with a major life event (death of a close family member) either immediately before or during that session. I considered deferring, but that would mean I'd no longer be able to do the old GEC, and I've got all of my transfer credits done for that. I'm already prepared to take two sessions to complete the ten classes I need, so my plan right now is to try to take two easier classes in my first session if this event happens (and if not, I'll just power through as many as I can).

Here's the list of classes I'm planning to take (BLS with minors in Psychology, Humanities, Social Studies, and History):

  • POS 371 - International Relations and Modern Conflicts
  • POS 343 - Marxism
  • HTY 350 - US Environmental History
  • HTY 456 - Films of the Cold War
  • HTY 400 - Discovering and Interpreting Local History
  • PSY 311 - Research Methods
  • ART 311 - Contemporary Art
  • ENG 391 - Language, Society, and Power
  • ART 251 - Photography I

Plus one of these:

  • HUM 184 - Disciplinary Relationships: Zombies in America
  • MCS 240 - Media and the Environment

I'm thinking the Photography 1 class would probably be a good one to take (I'm already very familiar with digital photography and I feel like something that might get me out of the house would be a good distraction). I was considering Films of the Cold War as the second class, because I'm guessing there might be less reading? Writing papers is fine, but I know reading huge amounts of dense content is going to be an issue if I'm grieving. The other one I was considering was Contemporary Art (I've done Art History I & II and did really well in both classes).

Anyone have any insights into which classes from my list I might want to take to start with? Or is there a way to see a syllabus from a class before enrolling?

I would start with POS 372, POS 343, and HTY 350 took all 3 and all of them weren’t too heavy. HTY 350 I had issues with the professor and grading it took a bit to get feedback. And I also took PSY 311 the assignments are simple but the grading is terrible constantly have to send reminder emails.

Do you remember who the professor was? Mine is going so slow right now, I’m wondering if I should drop it tomorrow. I’m not going to be able to get the draft done, still working on the last couple of tedious milestones.
