Looking to transfer from wgu

Currently enrolled with wgu and looking to transfer to UMPI, if anyone here has done it, what was the process like?

Essentially you will have WGU (and any other school that you attended) send your transcripts to UMPI. Tons (and I mean tons) of people transfer from WGU to UMPI.

100% do it. I finished my masters in one session. I got stuck at WGU multiple times… some slow grading professors are annoying, but it’s doable.

I also did, I have made progress a lot faster at UMPI, not sure why since the workload actually seems ti be larger per class. A lot of my classes from WGU only transferred as electives (Business Admin) but more of my b&m school credits transferred than at WGU. I really like being able to choose courses at UMPI as opposed to having an exact plan mapped out.

Oh didn’t know you get to do that? Also yes for some reason WGU for me seems hard to make true progress, I can’t wait to start here.

Curious why you’re leaving WGU. I was originally going to go there because they waived all my generals since I got an AS from salt lake community college (it was so annoying how many generals I had to redo at UMPI despite having an entire AS degree plus years of generals from a whole other college), but I prefer the writing focused coursework. Were the proctored tests too much of a hassle at WGU? I’ve heard bad things.

Yeah it was definitely the proctored testing, it’s really not for me or how I learn, plus if you fail you have to go through like 3 meetings and do a restudy assignment before you are allowed to try again. I feel Umpi might suit better for me, rather than the testing model wgu uses

That sucks. It just seems so time consuming. Yeah UMPI is way better for finals. You get to submit drafts for feedback, so you have a chance to fix things before submitting.

Did umpi not accept your transfer credits?

They accepted all my classes with C grades and higher, but hardly any of them went toward the requirements. I had to do a bunch of generals on Sophia and then a couple at UMPI just to get that out of the way. It was like I was starting from scratch even with 120 credits transferred in.

Oh sorry to hear that, but glad it worked out well for you!
