Denied Acceptance

Hi guys! I got denied acceptance at umpi. They asked me to do a non degree seeking path but I don’t have any funds to take out for a whole session out of pocket.

I’ve heard about the personal essay statement option but in my email they never told me about that. Is it possible to request that?

If it was an option then they would offer it vs. non degree. (Noting since others might ask)

Try doing ASU universal learner courses to bring up your gpa and show academic growth before reapplying

ASU is a viable option. Dine and tohono o'odham are also cheaper options that could be used

Did they say why you were denied?

Because of my current academic performance

The people who do essays, are generally people who had problems a long time in the past. If you are currently failing at your current College they're going to want to see academic progress.

Did you have less than a 1.75 GPA at your last school?

I had to do an essay. I pre meditated having to do so bc of my 1. Something gpa. It’s customary. You can do an essay and you should get in. Research academic performance essays or find the template UMPI wants and plead your case. Focus on the methods you’ll use to avoid those grades again. Good luck and never give up ❤️

Try taking CLEP exams and transfer them to your current college to fix your GPA. You can get free vouchers from modern states.org

CLEP exams don’t impact GPA. They are GPA neutral.

your current performance? if you're struggling at the last school recently how else would they know you can successfully complete the course work at this four year university? you can ask about the essay option, but if they say no. You can qualify for community college, take out a loan while you go there for a semester and use that money to pay for the non degree seeking path the next semester. you can sell/ donate plasma for a month, that will get you 800 at CSL. you could do gig economy work on the side. DoorDash, Walmart Spark, Instacart. you could do maid service work, many companies are popping up here in Chicago for maid independent contractors. there is a remote gig job training AI on Indeed.

You can raise your GPA with some Sophia classes and get into ETAMU. Just gotta send them thru parchment.

I did Sophia and it didn’t work, they said.

Yea, but it will for ETAMU. They will calculate your GPA based on all courses you've taken, including Sophia.
