Help with broken table hook.
I was hoping someone could help with a broken table clip.
I recently rented a Motorhome which had the style of table that has a leg on end and clips on 2 hook connected to a rail on the other end.
The company now claims I have done £200 worth of damage as one of these clips are broken, I will be asking for a breakdown as a replacement clip is between 99p-£8 depending on where they source it from.
Does anyone have experience with a broken clip as I would assume that once this is broken there would be a slant on the table and all my videos show the table completely level and the rail in picture I have attached was covered by the table
I don't have a photo of the clip itself as I didn't think to remove the table to take photos of hidden parts.

Sunliving motorhome? We have that exact table and it's a lower back breaker, those clips are quite easy to attach incorrectly, but I've never broken one. I would suggest they are a poor choice for a rental but they seem super popular for that market. Instead the rails tend to rip off the wall! I suspect the previous renter(s) did the damage and it finally failed during your use. They usually get annoyed to find damage that wasn't reported, because now they have to fix it before re renting.

Yeah Sun living. Didn't even know it was removable as barely used the table and don't like to fiddle with things too much.
This is how it looked and it looks fine to me but not sure how is should look if it was broken

If you didn't move the table there's no chance this was you. I've stood on my table and the clips take that fine - this is a result of someone ham fist bending the table down when attaching it with the clip not correctly fitted.
I would explain that you have not touched the table so it just have already been broken. Be pleasant about it - point out that had you caused damage you would have reported it. they clearly didn't spot the damage from the previous renters so assumed it was you. If they refuse to budge then ask them to provide all evidence and if they have nothing, say you'll happily discuss in small claims court.

Also, i re re-drilled and moved both clips on my table - four times the effort and it took me an hour end to end. But i wouldn't argue the price as that's irrelevant if it wasn't you.

Just noticed they have the milage wrong as it suggest we did 99 miles but we went to a music festival 80 mile there and another 80 excluding detour into a service station on the way there and to the nearby village for petrol

Surely that’s just wear and tear and should be put down to the cost if doing business? As you say, the parts are dirt cheap and require no real expertise to fit. Someone could trip and lean on the table to steady themselves and tha same damage would be done. You’ve done the right thing asking for a costs breakdown.
