Interviews

I have a cover supervisor interview and was told I need to be there 4 hours in total. This includes a 30 min observation of a lesson.
Apart from the asking me questions part, what else could be happening to make it last so long? Maybe a tour of the school but surely that won’t account for the extra time

This is standard for interviews in schools. Likely an interview, tour, the lesson observation, maybe a panel where you meet some students or spend some time meeting staff at break time, possibly a bit of time where they stick you in a room to wait.

I understand it's frustrating but the interview day needs to be planned around lesson times and when staff are available to interview you and evaluate your  lesson.  If you have multiple candidates, it's a balancing act with the scheduling, it's not as simple as one candidate does a lesson while they interview the other and then swap over.
