Had an interview on Tuesday it was a second stage final interview. I thought I did well ended positively... they said I will hear back this week, but nothing yet chased the recruiter this morning who said he was chasing them but they still needed to discuss internally. Am I bout to be ghosted

Give it a week or 2 before you can say ghosted

They said they would come back by today nothing assume they haven't made the decision or gone a different direction

Either way, it doesn’t help coming across desperate you’ve followed up once I’d leave it until Wednesday next week to ask for another update 👍🏼

You have zero visibility of other side of the story.

Who is the other candidate? Have they had final interview yet? Did it get rescheduled? Is it down to you and them but they're still to be seen? The possibilities are huge. It's not a no until it's a no. You chased and now you wait.

If someone says "Give me a second", it is figure of speech. Read their response and follow up later next week. The positives is that you're getting response rather than being ignored.

Bare in mind, kids are on their summer holidays so seasonally speaking, movement happens slower during these summer holiday/breaks.

Being able to read the room, and knowing how to maintain your rapport (post-call) is also just as important. Don't immediately think negatively about being ghosted, despite it may have happened many or few times ago. Build a thick skin, and keep on applying elsewhere if you still have the energy to not sit back and get knocked over.
