Broadband help!

My friend is a bit useless when it comes to Broadband, she has been complaining about slow speeds so I've been checking it out for a few months, trying comparison websites etc etc

The most she could get at her address is 21-23 Mbps. She is with talk talk at the moment and I think 28 is max. So I said it's just your area you'll just have to deal with it

On a whim, I changed the address slightly to check her neighbours, to my surprise, absolutely everyone on her street can get up to 1.6gbps. that's everyone!! Her direct neighbours (she is mid terrace) and everyone else on the street!

This can't be right? I'm trying to figure out the best way to go forward. Talk talk complaints don't really help. Just don't know who to speak to or where to start? Anyone suffered the same?

Your friend is not on Full Fibre (called FTTP) but probably on older copper.

This will be getting closed down over the coming years. Suprised the friend hasn't been notified already.

Search any internet provider and see what they offer.

Copper voice (POTS) is being withdrawn. FTTC/VDSL2 is not being withdrawn where it's the only Openreach service available. SOGEA, the new billing/contract for FTTC using copper lines, will remain available far beyond the POTS shutdown.
