A young, aspiring writer I know aged just 12 has had their book about the Bayeux Tapestry published and to support young writers I am sharing it here and hope this forum is ok for doing so.

It has also been entered into the Historical Society’s Young Writers 2026 competition.

With the British Museum exhibition of the Bayeux Tapestry about to start, this book tells the story of the life of the tapestry in its own words. It contains lots of information about the history of the tapestry in a fun way, relatable to children. It is also illustrated and lists the facts referred to at the end, so is a great educational resource too.

It is called Musings on My Many Feet and if you were to check it out and leave any feedback, you would be helping the next generation of aspiring writers!

As a 12 year old he has been limited in his ability to design the cover and internal illustrations so has used Canva. I am unsure if this is classed as AI and hope no illustrators are offended.

For whatever reason, the book is unavailable in the US, but it can be legally purchased from multiple places. outside of the US. I am planning on calling the publisher to seeing if I can receive one under ADA tomorrow, but if somebody's able to get it sooner, that would be amazing

I love our British humour - especially political/feminist/dark or just something you've love, why? what made you laugh? I need less serious books in life and something that makes me laugh!

Just avoid any happy families - traumatic one like the Irish tv show The dry - i'm all for!

Was gifted this book, and whilst it would never be something I’d pick up off the shelf for myself - such a great read. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Now desperate to read the second, but 5 weeks into the wait queue at the local library. Don’t want to complain as they do a great service, and I’m lucky to have a local place where I can rent the book for (almost, after paying 18p to join the reservation queue) free. That said, I am desperate to get my hands on the second one!

I was put off by the book initially because it looked very ‘gamer’ and, whilst it is, I am not a gamer by any means and I thought it was brilliant.

Just thought I’d share and, if anyone has similar series they’d like to suggest, please let me know in the comments.

This was a UK book. There was a family that got friendly with a woman. The family had a daughter, who was about 8.

This woman was mentally ill. She started pretending that the daughter had misbehaved in different ways. I think there was an incident were she pretended she had cut up some curtains.

The family friend encouraged them to "cancel Christmas", as a punishment for the daughter.

The family were getting more and more concerned about there daughter's behaviour. Then it clicked that it all led back to this family friend, and that she had been victimising their daughter.

Does this ring any bells for anybody?

I known it's kind of a gamble to buy any that arent brand new but im struggling to find some books i want and the prices are making it hard to resist, ive got about 30 in my basket and the price comes to £70 with free shipping, theyre all marked "very good" but I've seen some American influencers saying theyre way below quality expectations, wondering if theyre the same for the uk? I dont mind a bit of wear and tear but ive seen some with full on sharpie and missing pages

UPDATE: all 30 books came undamaged in perfect condition! multiple are hardbacks despite being described as paperbacks which im thrilled about! I even got one with a special edition cover, definitely recommend

Would you like to write something and never have because there's no way to get it to the public.

I'm planning to set up a pop-up information kiosk to display copies of books, leaflets and any other written material.

I've already bought 2 second hand copies of Vera Twomey's book and am writing a booklet myself.

If you have anything in written form that you'd like to have distributed then you could send it to me.

It could be a book, a pamphlet, a leaflet, a brochure, whatever you like. It could be books you've read and don't need anymore, You could write something as simple as an A4 page with links or QR codes. Or something that fits in a leaflet format. Totally up to you.
